WORDLE - anyone else trying the daily online word game?

I recently stumbled across WORDLE online.  For the uninitiated, it is a daily word guessing game where you have to try to guess the word in 6 or less tries.

This, from Wikipedia, explains the game:

Every day, a five-letter word is chosen which players aim to guess within six tries. After every guess, each letter is marked as either green, yellow or gray: green indicates that letter is correct and in the correct position, yellow means it is in the answer but not in the right position, while gray indicates it is not in the answer at all. The game has a "hard mode" option, which requires players to include letters marked as green and yellow in subsequent guesses. The daily word is the same for everyone. The game also has a dark mode as well as a high-contrast theme for colourblind accessibility, which changes the color scheme from green and yellow to orange and blue.

I have found that most that most days I can get the daily word in 5 tries or less (mostly 5 though).  Interestingly, there is a spinoff of WORDLE called LEWDLE, where the words are lewd, or naughty, words.  I have better success with LEWDLE than I do with WORDLE . . . getting the word in just 2 or 3 attempts.  Not sure what that says about my private school education 🤣

I'm back! Till 8.15am anyway!

I didn't cover myself in glory with Wordle today, but I don't feel too bad, in fact I felt quite pleased that after turn 2, I was able to use every known letter to make a logical guess. Just a pity none of the guesses were the right ones for a while.😁

I couldn’t do this in fewer turns. I really only guessed this in 4 because I suspected double use… and had to rule it out or in. The eliminator that I chose for the purpose had another important letter that I needed.

I didn't have a great start with this, even after my 2 eliminators.

My 3rd try though was helpful in that I could only see the yellow being in 4th spot, so the likely answer sort of leapt out.

What was your letter that gummed up the works? I remember at one stage lingering over B or P. It was on the 4th word. I had  _LEAT showing after my second turn. I wasn't sure if I should even try for it but I did, with P, and it worked out.

Then I looked at the 5th square and lo and behold, I had PRO_E showing. I was wondering if the universe was telling me to use a B but then again, what about a V. Luckily I left it as I felt another square calling me & the actual answer showed itself soon after that. Neither B or V. My usual sort of guess work! 😂

Re _LEAT, I had managed to solve top right very quickly. I didn’t have the vowel uncovered before guessing, but I had played all but one vowel so knew it must be that one. I had the starting letter, and another letter that couldn’t go directly after the first letter. That made the pool of words it could be quite small. It could have been a word utilising K, but it looked like a good opportunity to eliminate or include Y throughout the whole Octordle. It also made the _LEAT situation moot.
