I recently stumbled across WORDLE online. For the uninitiated, it is a daily word guessing game where you have to try to guess the word in 6 or less tries.
https://www.powerlanguage.co.uk/wordle/
This, from Wikipedia, explains the game:
Every day, a five-letter word is chosen which players aim to guess within six tries. After every guess, each letter is marked as either green, yellow or gray: green indicates that letter is correct and in the correct position, yellow means it is in the answer but not in the right position, while gray indicates it is not in the answer at all. The game has a "hard mode" option, which requires players to include letters marked as green and yellow in subsequent guesses. The daily word is the same for everyone. The game also has a dark mode as well as a high-contrast theme for colourblind accessibility, which changes the color scheme from green and yellow to orange and blue.

I have found that most that most days I can get the daily word in 5 tries or less (mostly 5 though). Interestingly, there is a spinoff of WORDLE called LEWDLE, where the words are lewd, or naughty, words. I have better success with LEWDLE than I do with WORDLE . . . getting the word in just 2 or 3 attempts. Not sure what that says about my private school education 🤣

Not really happy with this. My own fault. On #7, I overlooked a letter I already had out, which would have given me the start of this word. So that was one move wasted.
You had better luck than I with 2R, which stumped me to the extent of needing an eliminator at the end.

My starter was SLIDE. It could have been better.

After a bit of a limping starter (STALE), my 2nd row eliminator was helpful. I could guess the RH word and, looking at which letters remained unplayed, and the lack of certain letters uncovered in the LH, I had a strong suspicion about that word.

Everything went well with this! I started with LOUIS, and used MEATY as my 2nd row eliminator. I stormed through the words, taking a few risks but feeling tentatively confident with each guess.

I only just scraped in here.
My second & third guesses were chosen to cut out as many letters as possible in the answers that popped into my head. They helped but not enough.
Now octordle. This was quite relaxing and the score is down because 2 of my early guesses were wrong.
I would have been better off to use another eliminator such as crypt.

… and I decided not to use an eliminator at row 3. It was a 50/50 choice at that point.

SANER and LOUGH precipitated events… I solved 3R, then 4L (although I muttered “US spelling!”).

My 2nd row eliminator gave me nothing… nothing! But I made a guess at row 3 which was wrong by one letter. That one letter actually gave me another word… so from then on I could continue.

Sometimes nothing helps as well as it at least eliminates other guesses. But I agree, there's nothing as good as getting a few greens to work with!

After my first guess, I was tempted to try to start guessing, using letters that popped up the most in a few of the 'possibles'. But that didn't work out so well yesterday so I just went with my usual and I am glad I did.

Not happy with this. I was going well till the second last turn on #1, when I overlooked a letter I already had. I made the mistake of looking at the unused letters to find the starting one. Never mind, otherwise smooth enough.
