I recently stumbled across WORDLE online. For the uninitiated, it is a daily word guessing game where you have to try to guess the word in 6 or less tries.
https://www.powerlanguage.co.uk/wordle/
This, from Wikipedia, explains the game:
Every day, a five-letter word is chosen which players aim to guess within six tries. After every guess, each letter is marked as either green, yellow or gray: green indicates that letter is correct and in the correct position, yellow means it is in the answer but not in the right position, while gray indicates it is not in the answer at all. The game has a "hard mode" option, which requires players to include letters marked as green and yellow in subsequent guesses. The daily word is the same for everyone. The game also has a dark mode as well as a high-contrast theme for colourblind accessibility, which changes the color scheme from green and yellow to orange and blue.

I have found that most that most days I can get the daily word in 5 tries or less (mostly 5 though). Interestingly, there is a spinoff of WORDLE called LEWDLE, where the words are lewd, or naughty, words. I have better success with LEWDLE than I do with WORDLE . . . getting the word in just 2 or 3 attempts. Not sure what that says about my private school education 🤣

After my first turn, lovely as the green was, it still left the field wide open.
I wasn't sure what to do next so went with my usual second (which Bot deemed a big mistake).
In his world, crust would have been more help to me.
He may be right and it may have covered more of the possible solutions, but you know what, I think my second word served me better today.😁

I was going along quite well with this at the start, I felt quite buoyant in fact, then I hit a stumbling block in that I chose 2 possible but wrong answers.
I am a little bit resentful over word #4 (2R). It has been out before but it's not a word I love.

I agree, I agree.
As my starter was CATER for this Octordle, I knew that 2R couldn’t be that social gathering.
I didn’t like 2L, I definitely didn’t like 1L (blatant abbreviation), and I’m extremely relieved that my second word used a particular letter as that letter featured in half of the words used in Octordle.

Bot felt my first 2 guesses were 'solid' and in fact, after turn 2, I had narrowed it down to 2 possibilities.
Naturally, I went with the wrong one first.😂

I was lucky with this one as I was able to solve a couple on turns 2 & 3, which always helps lower the score.
Did make a mistake on #5, with the first letter.

TRACE as my starter gave me far too many possibilities, but I was lucky with my second eliminator. It immediately ruled out most possibilities with its placement of a vowel being excluded from the most obvious position, but really the clincher was having all letters right there.
You can give yourself a pat, though, springyzone. The bot’s own effort was 4 guesses.

My starter was SANER. I risked a guess at top right (1R) and luckily it was correct. But there I was, with too little information to solve the rest - so I had little choice but to play an eliminator (FILMY). And… we were off, galloping for the finish line!
