WORDLE - anyone else trying the daily online word game?

I recently stumbled across WORDLE online.  For the uninitiated, it is a daily word guessing game where you have to try to guess the word in 6 or less tries.

This, from Wikipedia, explains the game:

Every day, a five-letter word is chosen which players aim to guess within six tries. After every guess, each letter is marked as either green, yellow or gray: green indicates that letter is correct and in the correct position, yellow means it is in the answer but not in the right position, while gray indicates it is not in the answer at all. The game has a "hard mode" option, which requires players to include letters marked as green and yellow in subsequent guesses. The daily word is the same for everyone. The game also has a dark mode as well as a high-contrast theme for colourblind accessibility, which changes the color scheme from green and yellow to orange and blue.

I have found that most that most days I can get the daily word in 5 tries or less (mostly 5 though).  Interestingly, there is a spinoff of WORDLE called LEWDLE, where the words are lewd, or naughty, words.  I have better success with LEWDLE than I do with WORDLE . . . getting the word in just 2 or 3 attempts.  Not sure what that says about my private school education 🤣

This proceeded magnificently!

My starter of TRACE made 2L a snap. I did then need an eliminator at the 3rd row - DOILY - which gave me all of the letters for 3R.

2L was also staring me right in the face. By now, both 4R and 4L were ready to roll over at my command… and I then had the first letter for 3L with only one more letter to guess for that word.

The remaining two words 1R and 1L posed no difficulty.

This was such a satisfying Octordle.

I was lucky; my starter already narrowed it down to about eight possibilities. I could eliminate further with my 2nd row eliminator, and then I pounced.

My most frequently used starter gave a modest return, and I followed with SOUND. Top right (1R) was down to two possibilities; I made a guess and was right.

Given the vowel situation in 2R, I made a guess there and … was right. The pattern of what 2L could not be struck me, and based on experience, I made my guess there as well.

3L was straightforward. Solving that also ruled out a possibility for 1L and I made my guess there. It had also given me 4L.

4R presented several possibilities. It could be one of 3 or 4… but I rejected any ending in S. I guessed correctly.

I had only 3R remaining. It was one of two; I’d left it in the hope of uncovering the presence or absence of a particular letter, but here I was… no further enlightened. I made a guess - and there we are.

I thought of you & Bot on this as my second word was crate. That's one that Bot in particular likes and it did the job today. Mind you, Bot today said a better word would have been crypt (which is one of my regular eliminators). I can never win with him.🤣

After getting 3 letters straight off, I thought I should try for the word as I suspected what the pattern was. Mind you, my first thought wasn't the correct word. Luckily I looked for other possibilities.

This was a relatively easy octordle. The score is poor mainly because my first 2 words didn't reveal enough to start solving so I used a third word as eliminator. Then I made a wrong guess for word 3 on turn 8, but never mind, it was helpful anyway.
