I recently stumbled across WORDLE online. For the uninitiated, it is a daily word guessing game where you have to try to guess the word in 6 or less tries.
https://www.powerlanguage.co.uk/wordle/
This, from Wikipedia, explains the game:
Every day, a five-letter word is chosen which players aim to guess within six tries. After every guess, each letter is marked as either green, yellow or gray: green indicates that letter is correct and in the correct position, yellow means it is in the answer but not in the right position, while gray indicates it is not in the answer at all. The game has a "hard mode" option, which requires players to include letters marked as green and yellow in subsequent guesses. The daily word is the same for everyone. The game also has a dark mode as well as a high-contrast theme for colourblind accessibility, which changes the color scheme from green and yellow to orange and blue.

I have found that most that most days I can get the daily word in 5 tries or less (mostly 5 though). Interestingly, there is a spinoff of WORDLE called LEWDLE, where the words are lewd, or naughty, words. I have better success with LEWDLE than I do with WORDLE . . . getting the word in just 2 or 3 attempts. Not sure what that says about my private school education ๐คฃ

It went down to the wire with this one but at least I got through. I really thought I would probably solve #2 on my 4th guess, but it wasn't to be.
The 8th word-I also went for the wrong (though possible) choice.

Great enchilada!
My eliminator was the answer.
It was an obvious eliminator which would rule on the vowel situation, and also settle the most likely consonant. I wasnโt thinking of this as the answer as I had almost no information.

My 2nd row eliminator was SPOIL, and it did help although I still had to decide between three possibilities for the initial letter of 1L.
It was all going well until I came to 3R. Well, 2L and 3R, since both presented me with similar difficulties, and if I solved either one, it would help with the other. I decided to try 3R in pastry mode, and my luck held.

Bot felt I was extraordinarily lucky with my first guess, but it didn't feel that way to me!
He didn't much care for my second word but at least that gave me a yellow to work with.

Made a stupid mistake towards the end, on line 11, which wasted a turn really.
So when I got to the last turn, I still had 2 to solve.
I left #8 as I could still see 2 possibilities, probably lucky I did as I would have chosen the wrong one.

I started (as I mostly do) with TRACE, and SLIMY followed as my 2nd row eliminator. That was extremely helpful; I couldnโt think of any possibility other than the solution. I went through a host of words in my mind but the placement of the middle letter, the fact that the initial letter couldnโt be S, and the inclusion of the other yellow letter which could not be in 4th position were surprisingly definitive in ruling out word after word after word.
Did your 2nd word start with S, springyzone?

TRACE, then SPOILโฆ I could solve 1R, and 3R was obvious then. I was reasonably certain about 2L as it had to be a particular vowel and the final letter was down to two possibilities (1 of which was more likely than the other).
1L โฆ I checked off various possibilities and came to by far the most likely answer.
This uncovered 2L.
3L - well, this was a huge risk. The middle position had so many possibilities; I was despairing at coming up with a word containing enough of the possible letters to justify playing an eliminator. I made a guess that took note of a sneaky manoeuvre often used by Octordle. I was lucky.
But now I really had no choice; I had to play an eliminator to get any further with 4L and 4R. I used BHANG; I now had enough to know the shape of 4L and I could make quite a confident guess.
4R was the last remaining word to solve. I could only see one obvious word (US, but ah wellโฆ) and played it.
Done - but it was nerve-wracking.

After my starter, I wanted to rule in or out H, K, N, L, and various vowels. I decided that the best way would be to use a word containing L and N and two vowels.
After that, I knew the shape of the answer, and it was just a case of being lucky with the initial letter.

My starter gave only snippets of 1-2 letters (some yellow, some green). I used SPOIL as my 2nd row eliminator, and that gave me 1R and 2R. I was also able to solve 4L without any trouble, and could make a guess at 1L (2 possibilities were immediately obvious).
3R was a strong candidate for a guess; I was correct.
3L - I had it in the bag except for the 4th letter. Two possibilities - both equally likely. I made a guess and fortune was with me.
But I did come a cropper with 2L, guessing wrongly. At least that guess left me with only one solution for 2L, as well as giving me 4R on a plate.
