I recently stumbled across WORDLE online. For the uninitiated, it is a daily word guessing game where you have to try to guess the word in 6 or less tries.
https://www.powerlanguage.co.uk/wordle/
This, from Wikipedia, explains the game:
Every day, a five-letter word is chosen which players aim to guess within six tries. After every guess, each letter is marked as either green, yellow or gray: green indicates that letter is correct and in the correct position, yellow means it is in the answer but not in the right position, while gray indicates it is not in the answer at all. The game has a "hard mode" option, which requires players to include letters marked as green and yellow in subsequent guesses. The daily word is the same for everyone. The game also has a dark mode as well as a high-contrast theme for colourblind accessibility, which changes the color scheme from green and yellow to orange and blue.

This abc news story has some tips for playing:

I have found that most that most days I can get the daily word in 5 tries or less (mostly 5 though). Interestingly, there is a spinoff of WORDLE called LEWDLE, where the words are lewd, or naughty, words. I have better success with LEWDLE than I do with WORDLE . . . getting the word in just 2 or 3 attempts. Not sure what that says about my private school education 🤣

I so nearly had 2L without an eliminator - there was just one letter of which I was uncertain. But I can’t castigate myself too much. Had I played my guess, it would have been the wrong one.
Using an eliminator not only gave me the correct letter information for 2L, but also revealed other much-needed letters.

Started with 3 eliminators and after that it was easy. Could have (and should have) been brave and gone for #7 at turn 3 as I was pretty sure of it.

This was very much gut instinct.
The answer has popped up before - and for some reason I immediately suspected the shape of this. I can’t really explain it… I chose an eliminator based on a determination to decide between two possibilities but also to confirm two other letters.
In retrospect, good grief - why was I so sure? Why didn’t I even bother with other letters?

Right. I wasn’t imagining things.
I went through the last 3 or 4 pages in this thread, and found the Octordle that reminded me so strongly of today’s result:

I am glad you gave the link as the posts can be in mixed up order on my computer and the message numbers not the same. On this computer, it is reply 5324.
Yes, they are taking recycling seriously in at Octordle world! No wonder vogue popped into my head so quickly.

After my first 2 turns I could guess where the yellows went so there was a limited range of words it could be and at least one was wiped out by the blacks. But I just didn't have the energy to think this morning so I tried a 3rd word and all was clear.
