I recently stumbled across WORDLE online. For the uninitiated, it is a daily word guessing game where you have to try to guess the word in 6 or less tries.
https://www.powerlanguage.co.uk/wordle/
This, from Wikipedia, explains the game:
Every day, a five-letter word is chosen which players aim to guess within six tries. After every guess, each letter is marked as either green, yellow or gray: green indicates that letter is correct and in the correct position, yellow means it is in the answer but not in the right position, while gray indicates it is not in the answer at all. The game has a "hard mode" option, which requires players to include letters marked as green and yellow in subsequent guesses. The daily word is the same for everyone. The game also has a dark mode as well as a high-contrast theme for colourblind accessibility, which changes the color scheme from green and yellow to orange and blue.

I have found that most that most days I can get the daily word in 5 tries or less (mostly 5 though). Interestingly, there is a spinoff of WORDLE called LEWDLE, where the words are lewd, or naughty, words. I have better success with LEWDLE than I do with WORDLE . . . getting the word in just 2 or 3 attempts. Not sure what that says about my private school education 🤣

SpoilerThings started poorly & even after turn 2 there were no definite answers, even though 2 spots had 4 exposed letters.
I suspected #2 would be ratio or patio and #8 would be spout/scout/stout but for turn 3 I went for another eliminator, crypt. I would have been better with pricy, which I usually use these days.
Then I was so excited to get c and so solve #8 that I forgot to even check #2, I w3as convinced #1 was upper/ Wrong. Could have had #2 solved that turn but nope, delayed till turn 6.
Then another eliminator, bumfs, which helped a lot but meant I ran out of spots to solve #4. I knew from early on it was either taunt/vaunt or jaunt but no idea which one.
Oh, I know what you mean. There were so many “could be” spots in this. You had even worse luck than I, especially with having no “R” early on. 😱🧩🤔

You are kind! It was a tricky one but I also know I played it carelessly and missed opportunities. Some days are like that for me!

As you can see, I didn't have a lot of luck on my first 2 turns. I guess it helped in that it eliminated quite a few letters but if I am honest, I had not the slightest clue what it would be at that point so I just went for another eliminator as I thought at some point, surely some other letter should turn up.😂

I was extremely happy with today's octordle as the words seemed to fall into place like dominoes.
Mind you, I was a tad nervous when I had a go at #4 on my 3rd turn

I‘m amazed that I was able to go until the 8th row before needing an eliminator.

If I’d been willing to risk a guess on “award/alarm”, I would still have had a risk with the final word. Odder? Older? Owler? I didn’t want to push my luck too much, so… eliminator time.

OMG I was even lucky to get it in 6. I guessed it because by that stage, it was the only combination of letters I could put together and pronounce & that looked like a word. Plus it reminded me of a book from my childhood (no doubt banned these days or renamed)
I googled the word after I finished. I had never heard of it before.

I was off to a flying start with this, guessing words at turns 2 & 3.
Then I ran out of steam and used SHOUT as eliminator.
