WORDLE - anyone else trying the daily online word game?

I recently stumbled across WORDLE online.  For the uninitiated, it is a daily word guessing game where you have to try to guess the word in 6 or less tries.

This, from Wikipedia, explains the game:

Every day, a five-letter word is chosen which players aim to guess within six tries. After every guess, each letter is marked as either green, yellow or gray: green indicates that letter is correct and in the correct position, yellow means it is in the answer but not in the right position, while gray indicates it is not in the answer at all. The game has a "hard mode" option, which requires players to include letters marked as green and yellow in subsequent guesses. The daily word is the same for everyone. The game also has a dark mode as well as a high-contrast theme for colourblind accessibility, which changes the color scheme from green and yellow to orange and blue.

This abc news story has some tips for playing:

I have found that most that most days I can get the daily word in 5 tries or less (mostly 5 though).  Interestingly, there is a spinoff of WORDLE called LEWDLE, where the words are lewd, or naughty, words.  I have better success with LEWDLE than I do with WORDLE . . . getting the word in just 2 or 3 attempts.  Not sure what that says about my private school education ๐Ÿคฃ

Didn't get anywhere fast with this one.

Hmm a word with U in it.
So next i tried fudgy on the premise those letters might be more likely with U, plus it would test U in another spot.
At last, got more to work with.
I was thinking ducky, dumpy, dummy.
I've used dumpy before as eliminator but thought it was unlikely as an answer, but it is all a gamble.

Went with ducky then dummy.

28 cl.jpgMost of these led on one to the next but it is starting to feel like a habit that right at the end, I seem to run into a hole where there is no way to know for sure if it is this or that. Disaster struck on #1, but overall, not a hard game today.

This one had a few potholes for me, I was lucky not to miss out completely at the end. It was a close run thing.

Felt I needed an eliminator (fudgy) on turn 5. I was thinking smoky for #2 and lager or layer #3 and drape or grape for #4.
Got caught out again at the end with #5, so between extra eliminator and mistake, lucky to squeeze in under 60 today.

This was โ€ฆ well, it seemed intractable. I thought it would be a dreadful final scene, with toys - er, letters - chucked out of the cot in frustration. I donโ€™t quite know how itโ€™s only 51.

Spoiler

TRACE
GRATE ๐ŸŽฏ๐Ÿ€ could have been irate, prate
LOINS <- eliminator
KOALA ๐ŸŽฏ๐Ÿ€ could have been woald
ATLAS ๐ŸŽฏ
OLLIE ๐ŸŽฏThis has only popped up once before, if I recall correctly - skateboarding trick thingy?
UNSET ๐ŸŽฏ
VIVID ๐ŸŽฏ I had only one letter: โ€œiโ€; but I thought there must be 2; could have been bifid but try as I might, I really couldnโ€™t see any other option from the remaining letters. I spent a long time on this and had almost decided to try โ€œravenโ€ for 2L first, until I realised that this word must almost certainly be vivid
DRIVE ๐ŸŽฏ
RAMEN ๐ŸŽฏ just as well that I didnโ€™t play โ€œravenโ€

See what a weird Octordle this wasโ€ฆ?

Yes, I was surprised with Ollie.
My brother's dog was called Ollie, we adopted him when my brother died.
I forget how I solved this word but think it was about all I could do with the letters. I had no idea it had anything to do with skateboarding though, so I have learnt something new.

And I hate that word unset. It is exactly their type of word, but in speech, normally I would say unsettling or something has not set, or upset, but I cannot think of many times I would use 'unset'.
