WORDLE - anyone else trying the daily online word game?

I recently stumbled across WORDLE online.  For the uninitiated, it is a daily word guessing game where you have to try to guess the word in 6 or less tries.

https://www.powerlanguage.co.uk/wordle/

This, from Wikipedia, explains the game:

Every day, a five-letter word is chosen which players aim to guess within six tries. After every guess, each letter is marked as either green, yellow or gray: green indicates that letter is correct and in the correct position, yellow means it is in the answer but not in the right position, while gray indicates it is not in the answer at all. The game has a "hard mode" option, which requires players to include letters marked as green and yellow in subsequent guesses. The daily word is the same for everyone. The game also has a dark mode as well as a high-contrast theme for colourblind accessibility, which changes the color scheme from green and yellow to orange and blue.

This abc news story has some tips for playing:

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2022-01-26/why-wordle-has-become-a-new-online-obsession/100782794

I have found that most that most days I can get the daily word in 5 tries or less (mostly 5 though).  Interestingly, there is a spinoff of WORDLE called LEWDLE, where the words are lewd, or naughty, words.  I have better success with LEWDLE than I do with WORDLE . . . getting the word in just 2 or 3 attempts.  Not sure what that says about my private school education 🤣

Fell near the end. I was thinking reedy but I am sure I have seen that out recently, so I thought they may ring the changes, but... wrong call.
Still, happy with 53

I didn't find this one straight forward. Always, there seemed to be traps-alternative choices so i held off in a few cases, which is just as well.

I didn't feel confident to guess after turn 2 so used another eliminator (pricy), hence the knock to the score I guess.

Even then, #8 I entered with fingers crossed it wasn't colic.

Is it just me or has #3 word been out a bit lately? Having its moment.

At least the eliminator swathed through the myriad possibilities…

It was a choice primarily between livid and lipid, with a smaller likelihood of lippy (in my opinion).

I actually did mine in the early hours today so could have beaten you to the pip but got weary.

Now I can't remember a thing about any of them.

I'll have to summon them up.

18 cl.jpgMy main recollection of this is right from the start, being annoyed with #1 because I could guess the pattern but not the starting letter.
The score is 55 as I used the eliminator fudgy further down. I think I used it because I was hoping it might help with #1, which it didn't. #4 it did as I had been considering ruder.

I had to laugh at your post where you mentioned one of your eliminators coming out, just on the day you never used it.
I used an eliminator early on (dumpy). That is one I often used in the early days & it paid off today, except with hindsight, i can see I really should have been able to guess zebra before I used the eliminator. And maybe #6 too if I had been on the ball.
I actually had a suspicion about wound being the answer  for #4 but held off till later, till others had been ruled out.
The makers seem to like certain word patterns, don't they. Ones with several possibilities.😁

I'm with you here. Never going to be lippy (or at least, I doubt it). Such an aussie term, cannot imagine the Americans using it.

After that, I couldn't see any way out of using another eliminator as the possibilities seemed endless.
I was thinking mirth, birth, ditch, pitch, witch
I used caped, which only covered some, but wasn't sure what else to use. In any event, it was useful but if the answer had been eg birth, I would have had to have another eliminator so 4 seemed good in the circumstances.
