WORDLE - anyone else trying the daily online word game?

I recently stumbled across WORDLE online.  For the uninitiated, it is a daily word guessing game where you have to try to guess the word in 6 or less tries.

This, from Wikipedia, explains the game:

Every day, a five-letter word is chosen which players aim to guess within six tries. After every guess, each letter is marked as either green, yellow or gray: green indicates that letter is correct and in the correct position, yellow means it is in the answer but not in the right position, while gray indicates it is not in the answer at all. The game has a "hard mode" option, which requires players to include letters marked as green and yellow in subsequent guesses. The daily word is the same for everyone. The game also has a dark mode as well as a high-contrast theme for colourblind accessibility, which changes the color scheme from green and yellow to orange and blue.

I have found that most that most days I can get the daily word in 5 tries or less (mostly 5 though).  Interestingly, there is a spinoff of WORDLE called LEWDLE, where the words are lewd, or naughty, words.  I have better success with LEWDLE than I do with WORDLE . . . getting the word in just 2 or 3 attempts.  Not sure what that says about my private school education 🤣

I felt I was lucky on this one.

For several of the early ones, I didn't see what else they could be, nothing else was coming to mind.

That doesn't mean there weren't any alternatives. There probably were, knowing me, but today there were no nasty reality checks.😁

I was particularly lucky with #6 as I looked at what I had and thought... probably ends in eard but can't be heard, what else can it be? But looking at it now, it could just as easily have been ready, I hadn't used the Y! I just never thought of it at the time. Luck was with me today.

I think I’m most pleased with solving 1L (spurn), as I only had a yellow R and a yellow N; obviously there’d be a U or Y. One after another, I ruled out possible words until I was left with spurn.

Affix took some time, but it really was the only possible answer for 3L.

It all fell into place.

I can't believe this. I did the puzzles yesterday then came onto the site and got waylaid with making other posts and I think I forgot to post results.

Wordle is long gone. I can't remember if I got it in 3 or 4.

alien/shout/manor (I thought it was worth a try for letter placement at least. After this, I thought the O would probably have to go on the end and banjo makes an occasional appearance in octordle, so it seemed likely.

At least I have 2 day's worth of octordle saved.

I can't recall the score but think it must have been around 52 as there were no mistakes or extra guesses after turn 2. That was the classic.

This wasn't as easy for me but the score wasn't as bad as I expected. I don't know if it was 59-60, something around there, forget.

I think that is because I didn't use another eliminator (budge) till nearer the end. I also made a mistake tight at the end, which was a stupid mistake as I should have noticed i could not be in 4th place, but sometimes I get carried away with an idea and don't double check. I think, that's it, it has to be that. Of course, it often isn't!!🤣

Today's classic wasn't an easy one for me. Even after 2 turns, it felt as if there were too many possibilities and my first word (alien) did not yield as much as I always hope for!

I couldn't think of anything else for #7 so got that on my 3rd turn, but then was at a bit of a loss as far as making a confident guess.
I thought board was worth a try for #6 as it had some extra letters to uncover and in fact it proved quite useful even though it wasn't the answer. I would never in a million years have guessed mambo at that stage of the game.
