WORDLE - anyone else trying the daily online word game?

I recently stumbled across WORDLE online.  For the uninitiated, it is a daily word guessing game where you have to try to guess the word in 6 or less tries.

This, from Wikipedia, explains the game:

Every day, a five-letter word is chosen which players aim to guess within six tries. After every guess, each letter is marked as either green, yellow or gray: green indicates that letter is correct and in the correct position, yellow means it is in the answer but not in the right position, while gray indicates it is not in the answer at all. The game has a "hard mode" option, which requires players to include letters marked as green and yellow in subsequent guesses. The daily word is the same for everyone. The game also has a dark mode as well as a high-contrast theme for colourblind accessibility, which changes the color scheme from green and yellow to orange and blue.

I have found that most that most days I can get the daily word in 5 tries or less (mostly 5 though).  Interestingly, there is a spinoff of WORDLE called LEWDLE, where the words are lewd, or naughty, words.  I have better success with LEWDLE than I do with WORDLE . . . getting the word in just 2 or 3 attempts.  Not sure what that says about my private school education 🤣

This needed careful thought and a dedicated avoidance of rushing in too soon. But with the exception of one word with a 50/50 chance, it was actually a logical progression.

After solving 4L immediately after the eliminator, I had to take a guess to continue. 1L could have been spine or snipe or swipe; 1R could have been throb or throw; 2L was drink or brink. It was pintail the donkey / lucky dip … so I opted to try “drink” for 2L which would rule “n” in or out for 1L, as well as giving me a good chance of being correct.

It was correct! Phew. Now I knew that 1L had to be swipe. Thus 1R was throb. I could guess 3R as I thought it very unlikely to be zooid; that gave me the “v” to solve 4R. With “m” revealed, I had all of the letters for 3L, and that also gave me 2R.

Done!

I ran out of time yesterday to do octordles before I had to leave and it looks as if I may have dodged a bullet, at least for the classic.

Straight after my first turn, I was sorely tempted by glide.
I thought-what else could it be? Is there any point in trying shout, could there be any other vowels?
Then I thought-olive!
So I decided I really needed another eliminator, just in case. I was very surprised to see T exposed and there was only one place it could go, so the answer was obvious then, but up till that point, I had not thought of it.

It is lucky I solved #4 first as up till then, I was thinking trash for #3.
All went fairly well till the end & there was no way to know for sure whether #6 was lower or lover so I had to guess. Got it wrong. No suprises there.

This felt a tad easier.

Again, at the end, I was faced with the decision, watch or hatch for #7.
This has to be one of their favourite word patterns, I guess because it has so many possibilities.

But I was annoyed, I had eliminated most of the usual contenders for first place and was left with-watch or hatch. I am sure that is exactly what happened to me a couple of days back and the answer was watch then, so I figured today they might ring the changes.
