WORDLE - anyone else trying the daily online word game?

I recently stumbled across WORDLE online.  For the uninitiated, it is a daily word guessing game where you have to try to guess the word in 6 or less tries.

This, from Wikipedia, explains the game:

Every day, a five-letter word is chosen which players aim to guess within six tries. After every guess, each letter is marked as either green, yellow or gray: green indicates that letter is correct and in the correct position, yellow means it is in the answer but not in the right position, while gray indicates it is not in the answer at all. The game has a "hard mode" option, which requires players to include letters marked as green and yellow in subsequent guesses. The daily word is the same for everyone. The game also has a dark mode as well as a high-contrast theme for colourblind accessibility, which changes the color scheme from green and yellow to orange and blue.

I have found that most that most days I can get the daily word in 5 tries or less (mostly 5 though).  Interestingly, there is a spinoff of WORDLE called LEWDLE, where the words are lewd, or naughty, words.  I have better success with LEWDLE than I do with WORDLE . . . getting the word in just 2 or 3 attempts.  Not sure what that says about my private school education 🤣

I am convinced some of this game is learned behaviour. I looked at #3 just before turn 5 and thought-not again, I bet it is that abominable word, Howdy, that they love.

#1 was a guess, after I gave up waiting for a C or M elsewhere to sort it out.

I didn't do it & now wish I had as I would have noticed the trace popping up.

As for the extreme game, I haven't come across ogmic, so I proceeded in blissful ignorance.😂

For some reason, I had doubts there would be another vowel, but a moment's thought convinced me that yes, there definitely could be, so i went with my usual shout.
That at least solved that dilemma. No other vowels.
I then wondered about an R in second place and tried pricy, was a bit surprised to see the Y.

A most annoying game.

After my first 2 turns, I couldn't see anything to solve with 100% certainty.
I should probably have just gone for another eliminator, but some evil demon persuaded me to take a risk on #4 as I felt it was a 50/50 chance. I picked the wrong 50.

At least the K  proved useful elsewhere.

But then I used another eliminator lower down (cupid) to clear up the remaining words.
It almost did.
Except I jumped in with droll, which was wrong. I wasn't going to give it the satisfaction of wasting more time on it. Should have left that one till last. Would still have got it wrong but score may have been slightly better. But probably not by much.

I plunged into that first guess with all the enthusiasm of a swimmer determined to ignore the goosebumps on a grey morning at the beach. Luckily my guess was correct… brrrrr!

With my second guess also riding the waves triumphantly, I thought I’d end up with a nice little score of 50 or 51 at least. But no! That wrong (but perfectly logical) guess of shake for 3L had me spluttering under the splashing water and dragged me down to a final 54.

Yes… once you went for the wrong 50/50 choice, you were solving with a weight clamped to your ankle.

😂I had to laugh when you said 'dragged down to a final score of 54'.

Horrid, horrid game yesterday so you did well.

And you were right about the classic too-laden with double letters. I recall thinking that too andd nearly mentioned it.

The fates have been much kinder to me today.

After that, I thought it was worth having a guess as I thought it was likely the T would have to be at the start. So I tried trick.
That left nowhere for the T to go except 4th spot and I could think of few remaining letters that could go after T-I could only think of Y, till my eyes alighted on the Z.
