I recently stumbled across WORDLE online. For the uninitiated, it is a daily word guessing game where you have to try to guess the word in 6 or less tries.
https://www.powerlanguage.co.uk/wordle/
This, from Wikipedia, explains the game:
Every day, a five-letter word is chosen which players aim to guess within six tries. After every guess, each letter is marked as either green, yellow or gray: green indicates that letter is correct and in the correct position, yellow means it is in the answer but not in the right position, while gray indicates it is not in the answer at all. The game has a "hard mode" option, which requires players to include letters marked as green and yellow in subsequent guesses. The daily word is the same for everyone. The game also has a dark mode as well as a high-contrast theme for colourblind accessibility, which changes the color scheme from green and yellow to orange and blue.

I have found that most that most days I can get the daily word in 5 tries or less (mostly 5 though). Interestingly, there is a spinoff of WORDLE called LEWDLE, where the words are lewd, or naughty, words. I have better success with LEWDLE than I do with WORDLE . . . getting the word in just 2 or 3 attempts. Not sure what that says about my private school education 🤣

It was fortunate that my eliminator included an H. That helped to set things on the move from 3R (smock - shock ruled out) onwards.
But half of the time, elements of solved words led nowhere. The N of scant…? Nowhere. The P of tempo? Nowhere. Admittedly the Ls of troll helped with bowel and laugh, and the B of sober helped to uncover bowel as well, but you see what I mean about its being lopsided?

1R was either fifth or fifty; I left it until 4R (theft) ruled in the H.
2R: H was ruled out in 2nd and final position, with C also ruled out of 4th position. Schwa was all it could be.

The octordles today weren't that hard but I didn't shine in them, put it that way.

Risks all over the place, but they were risks that I felt inspired to take. Logically I should have played an eliminator at row 3. Really, I didn’t deserve the good luck with snare and blare and scout and funny.
That run of good fortune stopped short at 2R; hovel didn’t have the appropriate planning permission from Octordle Council.

The few unused letters - Q, P, D, J. K, Z, X - show just how little connection there is between the words used. That made the solving feel disjointed. I reluctantly admit that this was a logical playground of words; the only risky guess was 4R (biome), as long as I solved words in the right order.

SpoilerOkay, so it's put a spoiler box up the top. How these things happen to me I don't know sometimes. Must have hit something by accident.

Absolutely no idea so tried colon. Well, you never know! And at least it would try out some O positions.
pylon-very confident. When it was wrong, I looked at it in disbelief. What other letter could it be?
That's when it clicked that we were having a letter used again.
Why I didn't think of nylon straight off, I don't know, as it appears in octordle from time to time.⬛🟨⬛⬛🟩

Pylon was one of the three possibles that I cornered… but Wordle loves nylon; it used it rather too often in the past.
