WORDLE - anyone else trying the daily online word game?

I recently stumbled across WORDLE online.  For the uninitiated, it is a daily word guessing game where you have to try to guess the word in 6 or less tries.

https://www.powerlanguage.co.uk/wordle/

This, from Wikipedia, explains the game:

Every day, a five-letter word is chosen which players aim to guess within six tries. After every guess, each letter is marked as either green, yellow or gray: green indicates that letter is correct and in the correct position, yellow means it is in the answer but not in the right position, while gray indicates it is not in the answer at all. The game has a "hard mode" option, which requires players to include letters marked as green and yellow in subsequent guesses. The daily word is the same for everyone. The game also has a dark mode as well as a high-contrast theme for colourblind accessibility, which changes the color scheme from green and yellow to orange and blue.

This abc news story has some tips for playing:

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2022-01-26/why-wordle-has-become-a-new-online-obsession/100782794

I have found that most that most days I can get the daily word in 5 tries or less (mostly 5 though).  Interestingly, there is a spinoff of WORDLE called LEWDLE, where the words are lewd, or naughty, words.  I have better success with LEWDLE than I do with WORDLE . . . getting the word in just 2 or 3 attempts.  Not sure what that says about my private school education 🤣

Hmm. I could have tried guessing 2R without an eliminator, but it would have been a 1 in 7 guess.

2R could have been scarf, scary, chard, charm, chary, chair (NOT roach - of course this was ruled out because of the C not being in 4th position) …

Thinking maybe an ea word but that wasn't an absolutely sure thing.

Next word-bodgy, to cover some letters I felt were likely to go with ea. I would have loved to have R or C in there too, but we can't have everything.

13 cl.jpgAs you can see, I ran out of sure things by turn 4. In fact, turn 3 was a risk that paid off.
I tried the eliminator frump, which sorted some. I had been thinking month/north for #1 and float/gloat for #6 and chuck/chuff/chump for #4.

Then I took a risk on #2 with vocal, as focal had been eliminated. The right answer was immediately obvious but after that, I left it to languish till last.😠
I was most pleased to get #8 right but in all honesty, not many  letter choices left by then.

Turn 3 was a risk but for the extreme, I felt it would be more likely.
I was pleased to get #8, shades of teh classic though!

And #1 reminded me of yesterday's wordle. I knew from early on it would be a job of work to get rid of all the possibilities so at the end used wimpy to narrow it down. I suspected it wouldn't be wound today, but you can never tell!

After the starter, the landscape remained bleak. Finally the eliminator drew into view like a troika and illuminated just enough for me to see which way I should take.

I played bitty because it hadn’t been used in the last two _ITTY solutions, and kitty was less likely than the other possibilities.

Flunk/plunk - a real dilemma. Either F or P would also work for 1A (found/mound/pound/wound). It was blind chance.

That left me with 1A. At least it was now down to three choices. Unluckily I chose mound and it bombed.

That score is so mean. It’s a pity that you needed another eliminator at row 4, but you played it logically.

Suspect the other way round and you tried pound when it was mound.

I had more luck today in wordle than I had yesterday.
