I recently stumbled across WORDLE online. For the uninitiated, it is a daily word guessing game where you have to try to guess the word in 6 or less tries.
https://www.powerlanguage.co.uk/wordle/
This, from Wikipedia, explains the game:
Every day, a five-letter word is chosen which players aim to guess within six tries. After every guess, each letter is marked as either green, yellow or gray: green indicates that letter is correct and in the correct position, yellow means it is in the answer but not in the right position, while gray indicates it is not in the answer at all. The game has a "hard mode" option, which requires players to include letters marked as green and yellow in subsequent guesses. The daily word is the same for everyone. The game also has a dark mode as well as a high-contrast theme for colourblind accessibility, which changes the color scheme from green and yellow to orange and blue.

This abc news story has some tips for playing:

I have found that most that most days I can get the daily word in 5 tries or less (mostly 5 though). Interestingly, there is a spinoff of WORDLE called LEWDLE, where the words are lewd, or naughty, words. I have better success with LEWDLE than I do with WORDLE . . . getting the word in just 2 or 3 attempts. Not sure what that says about my private school education 🤣

With wordle, I took 4.
alien/shout
That gave me green A in line 1. Yellow H & O in line 2.
I didn't have a clue what it could be, the only word I could remotely think of was achoo, which seemed unlikely.
Third line I tried pricy and revealed a yellow R. The penny finally dropped. Abhor.
By the way, you used a great eliminator in one of the games, fremd. I have never heard of that, must remember it. Covers a lot of good letters.
We should create a list of potentially useful eliminators…!
Fremd is unusual in English, but a standard word in German. Some of the best eliminators do seem to result from words of foreign origin absorbed into English.

This is what happens when I go off course.
I started with alien.
Then I thought-chair, stair, rapid.. maybe shout would be useful. Or pricy might be better, so i went with that but it didn't go as well as I had hoped. I really had thought chair might be it.
Third word was stair.
I was hoping at the finish that it was not radii but that seemed unlikely.

Grrrrr.
After the eliminator, it could have been rapid, rabid, laird, farad, marid. The last two were incredibly unlikely. Either rabid or rapid would at least eliminate between the remaining three possibilities if I chose the wrong word.

I don’t know why I chose honky as the eliminator. On the face of it, it’s not an obvious choice - only one more vowel and that K not being the most usual consonant. However, it gave me just what I needed as I went along.
The Y together with the letters R, A and C from my starter were enough to give me scary. The C in 4th position with E, O and H were enough to give me epoch. I now had all the letters for 1L’s capon. For 1R I now had __NO_ with P and T, so all I had to do was add the I to make pinot.
For 2R, I had SI__T with an H, for which I needed only to add G for sight. Then 3R (S____ , with yellow P, I and K) could only be skimp. 4R was _I_R_ with yellow N, T, O - obviously nitro. And finally… 4L was ____T with yellow R and N, vowel must be U, and I had only to add B for the whole thing to be burnt.
