What would the cs'ers do?

Say somebody loaned you an item and then that somebody was just incredibly nasty to you one day totally out of the blue (unrelated to the lending) and you had a huge falling out and didn't speak for a long long time. Could that somebody contact you out of the blue and ask for the item back? 

Would you give it back? 

The falling out was that vile there is no chance of words ever being exchanged ever again. Ever. 

Would you think "stiff biscuits you should have remembered I had your item before you were nasty"?

It has to be returned IMO , particularly as it was on loan, no matter what the relationship is between the people now. could it be posted so you don't have to speak to them again? Or could someone else take it there for you?

It's a power struggle thing. Does sending it back give them power they don't deserve?

They're very bossy. Used to being the boss of everybody and every thing. I refuse to be bossed about these days.

No, I don't think it gives them power, giving it back is just the right thing to do . IMO, the person who does the right thing by giving back the loaned item, has all the power cos they can be confident they did the right thing.

if anything returning it gives you the power - for want of a better word - as you did the right thing instead of resorting to pettiness.

I would give it back. 

The reason I would give it back is that the other person would no longer have a reason to pester/contact you.  (Till they think of another issue anyway) Put it in their mailbox if it will fit, or mail it to them.

The reason I ask, because i'm a sticky beak.

 If I had the item which was lent to me, I would return it because it doesn't belong to me.
