WWYD return or not

What would the cs'ers do?

Say somebody loaned you an item and then that somebody was just incredibly nasty to you one day totally out of the blue (unrelated to the lending) and you had a huge falling out and didn't speak for a long long time. Could that somebody contact you out of the blue and ask for the item back?

Would you give it back?

The falling out was that vile there is no chance of words ever being exchanged ever again. Ever.

Would you think "stiff biscuits you should have remembered I had your item before you were nasty"?

Mutual friend doesn't live here. Somebody jumped on the phone to smear me when I didn't answer my phone to them.

I'll return it and they'll find some other excuse to contact me. Gah.

They sound a little persistent, but thats not your problem.

Can you just keep it simple and straightforward with them? Perhaps send the item to them with a note saying "I heard you wanted this back, and Id would appreciate it if you didnt contact me again.'

I would have either given it back or binned it years ago. Either way, after years have passed it would no longer be in my possession, therefore they would be wasting their own time and energy in wanting it back.

If the relationship/friendship was abusive, I wouldn't want the book in my home. If you know where it is, just send it back and ask that they not contact you again either directly or through another person.
