  At last we are getting the truth about "The greatest moral challenge of our time" The "Global Warming " hysteria we have been subjected to now is a totally wrong prediction & no discernaable change since 1976.

The name calling, invoking the holocaust "denier" tag on all  who had the temerity to question.

THE Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change's latest assessment reportedly admits its computer drastically overestimated rising temperatures, and over the past 60 years the world has in fact been warming at half the rate claimed in the previous IPCC report in 2007.

More importantly, according to reports in British and US media, the draft report appears to suggest global temperatures were less sensitive to rising levels of atmospheric carbon dioxide than was previously thought.

The 2007 assessment report said the planet was warming at a rate of 0.2C every decade, but according to Britain's The Daily Mail the draft update report says the true figure since 1951 has been 0.12C.

Without any prior knowledge, it's easy to see how the average punter might be easily fooled by the line-up of  books cosying-up in Dymocks and elsewhere.

As you can see by the image above, there's some excellent stuff on offer from well credentialed authors and scientists. There's What We Know About Climate Change by MIT Professor of Atmospheric Science Kerry Emanuel. Just beneath, is The Hockey Stick and the Climate Wars: Dispatches from the front lines from Professor Michael Mann, director of Earth System Science at Penn State University, also in the US.

And sharing the same shelf space, is Taxing Air written by Dr Bob Carter, an Australian geologist and advisor to about a dozen climate science denial organisations around the world, and John Spooner, a cartoonist for The Age newspaper in Melbourne, Australia.

Bob Carter's fringe views on climate change (it's all natural) make him a favourite of fossil fuel-funded propaganda unit the Heartland Institute and many, many other groups with similarly dismissive views on human-caused climate change and its risks.

Carter was recently let go by James Cook University in Queensland, where he had been an unpaid adjunct professor for over a decade, because he wasn't pulling his weight. Carter hinted - and his supporters screamed - that he had been booted out because he was a climate sceptic. I covered that case for DeSmogBlog and also summarised this and other recent goings on for the ABC Science Show.

SF I suggest you consider the scientific terms: "trend", "noise",   because where climate/temperature are concerned they are very important. A quick read of the 2007 report would help because this comment : " the world has in fact been warming at half the rate claimed in the previous IPCC report in 2007." is wrong, because the report actually says:

"For the next two decades, a warming of about 0.2°C per decade is projected for a range of SRES emission"

According to The Daily Mail, the draft report recognised the global warming "pause", with average temperatures not showing any statistically significant increase since 1997.
The 2007 assessment report said the planet was warming at a rate of 0.2C every decade, but according to Britain's The Daily Mail the draft update report says the true figure since 1951 has been 0.12C.

According to an ongoing temperature analysis conducted by scientists at NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS) , the average global temperature on Earth has increased by about 0.8°Celsius (1.4°Fahrenheit) since 1880. Two-thirds of the warming has occurred since 1975, at a rate of roughly 0.15-0.20°C per decade.

Now consider the figures above SF and  then calculate the annual temperature variations (increases).

Dont' forget "trend",  10 years is a good start, and the Daily Mail  is  not known for scientific research.
