Iโm relieved to have a text from my friends. They are okay, and sitting tight. Rain was like the 40 days and nights in just a few hours.

It's now a bloody mess here in the Central West. Janeababe is doing it tough. She's copping it right in the face. Her town went from nothing, to being underwater inside 3 hours today. Seeing her videos today brought me to tears. I had to stop watching the news stories, I got too upset.
Other smaller towns have been wiped out. People have lost everything except the clothes on their back. The water came in so fast, they didn't have time to collect up any possessions. For those in the smaller towns that have lost everything, the government has kindly put them up in my unaffected town, for THREE NIGHTS. They don't need 3 nights, they need long term accommodation, which sadly, my town doesn't have due to a rental crisis. I looked at my spare room tonight.............
Just to put it out there, it's inevitable there will be Go Fund Me's set up. DO NOT donate to them unless you know they are legitimate. Most won't be. The media will say which one is legit. Scammers thrive on stuff like this to make money, so don't fall for their sob stories. As Aussies, we want to reach out and help when something like this happens and are very quick to put our hands in our pockets. Don't do it, yet.
I weep for my neighbouring towns. Molong (in big strife), Eugowra (completely wiped out), Forbes (getting very ugly tonight), Cowra, Bathurst and everywhere in between. I have said it a hundred times in the last few months, I'm so glad we don't have a river. It has saved us. We had 124mm of rain on Sunday night and had some localised flooding due to the storm water drains being overwhelmed. When the rain stopped, the small amount of water in a few streets subsided very quickly, in less than an hour. No houses or shops were threatened. It barely got as deep as the gutters.
