Pimpy asked me to start the challenge as she is still without her computer and finding it difficult from her phone.

The theme is 'back when'  

Back when you were at school.  Back when your grandparents were alive.  Back when you played sport etc. Back when you lived in a different country.

 it's a merchant seamans diary. it is a fascinating and sad tale. the seaman was the radio operator , and ended up at the wheel of the ship when everyone else died from what sounds like something awful (he doesn't actually say what it is)  i've tried a few times tp return it to the family, but they remain elusive

Well if all else fails you can always check out your local Uni, ours has wonderful archives full of all sorts of wonderful Union and labour history, you could donate it .
