Yes, bright.ton, hopes for a new and peaceful life. I had two children then and a third one on the way. It took six weeks to reach Australia. Have not been on a cruise since, and I still have an Edelweiss that my father brought from his home in Tyrol.

Katy, the stretch from Freemantle to Melbourne was very rough seas. From 1,500 passengers I was the only one not getting seasick. The Doctor on board told me it was because I was pregnant and the fluid in my tummy ballanced the movementts out.
I was spoiled rotten for the whole week it took to get to Melbourne. Except for the crew, the Chefs had nobody else to cook for. I could eat anything I wanted.
Those were the days.

Erica, my MIL was also ill, and she had a three month old baby. The crew took over, and the baby was spoilt rotten by the end of the trip. lol.

Oh seasickness, I was completely bed ridden with it. Somewhere along the way, I think in the Indian Ocean we hit the
edge of a cyclone and the ship tilted from bow to stern so that you could see the propellor spinning in the air. Terrifying. My cabin was near the dining room and all we could hear was the crashing of crockery, it was just awful. I think that was the Fairsky.
