I'll join you Lobs. I'm on a weight loss kick, too.
I've lost 3,5k since New Year, but we've had a run of visitors and I've been a bit slack.
Today March 24th I weigh 85.2k. My aim is to get down to 75k.
My tips: - keep a diary of what you eat. I count weightwatcher points but you can do it counting calories. Use a smaller dinner plate - it makes your portions look bigger.

I've lost 19kgs in 11 months but I've done it using a special Low Carb High Fat diet so this diet isn't for everyone. It also means I have to cook and prepare all my meals from scratch because most processed foods contain high carbs.
But it's the easiest diet I've ever been on. I'm never hungry and the weight just fell off me with no exercise whatsoever! That's my kind of diet.

Hi Lobs, I'll join you too 🙂 I walk the dogs most mornings but I do like to snack on bad foods a bit 😕 A couple of years back I lost a heap of weight reducing my meal portion sizes and making a strict rule to never snack after 8 in the evening. I'm going to try and get back into zumba aswell, there are classes here Tuesdays and Thursday evenings.
I'm allergic to the scales lol

OK, Lobs I'm in. From Sept 1, 2013 - Dec 1, 2013, I lost 8kg...went from 73kg to 65kg. However, have put back on 3kg due to slackness! Back to 68. I don't exercise at all.
I did a Low Carb, High Protein diet, based on the Dukan/Atkins diets, with some variations because as catmioux says, it is not for everyone. But, real easy if the willpower holds out from chocolate, hot cross buns etc!!!

For anyone looking for a serious motivator I can't recommend a Fitbit highly enough. It is fairly expensive for a pedometer but it also wifi syncs to your computer and comes with a programme that makes it easy to log your calorie intake.
This is a section of my dashboard for today. Yes I've been a little bit slack but it is only 10 am here!
On the right hand side you can check on how friends are doing too which is further motivation.

Good for you lobs and everyone else. Wish I could join you but don't have any willpower right now - or is it WON'T power.
Apart from all the great tips here I do suggest you only weigh yourself every 2 weeks, that way you're bound ot have lost something but maye just not in a week and that can be really frustrating. Last time I did that weighed myself after a week and hadn't lost anything I went and got about 4 slices of bread with marmalade to cheer myself up, lol.

PS) Ele - ur fatter than me! ha ha
Bugga! I was going to say 'Ah, but I'm probably taller than you" - but in fact you are 1/2 inch taller than me.
My saving grace is very long legs - the further your bum is from your feet the more you can get awy with weightwise.
I used to weigh in the low 60s in my younger days, but I think I'd just look like a bag of bones if I got down to that weigth now. 75k is the top limit of my healthy weight range - if I can get down to 70 I'd be stoked but slow and steady wins the race, I'm not going to starve myslef.

I know Lobs, people are always so fast to compliment you whe they notice you've lost weight, but no one ever really says anything when they notice you've gained weight. People dont want to seem rude I guess, yet if they are talking behind your back about it, that is pretty rude. Some people are more sensitive than others though. I used to be ultra sensitive talking about fatness. Not anymore though. If you are fat, you are fat no point getting all down about it. If you have a problem the first thing you need to do is acknowledge it, then you can take the first steps to solving the problem...
I didn't walk this morning because I've come down with a cold over the weekend and felt like carp. I'll try and get motivated to go some time this arvo. And I'm excited to go to a zumba class tomorrow evening.
