It's not an extreme at all. Every addict has a reason for their addiction. I personally know a number of addicts and the majority have had traumatic histories. Your assertion that addicts choose to get on to welfare to fund their addiction is completely false and is something the msm pushes. Do your research and you will learn it is most certainly not the case.
You haven't answered my question on what happens when we don't fund the medical needs.
Alex, nowhere have I said medical need should not be funded.
What I object to is the fraudulent claims on welfare

@poddster wrote:By the way Alex, you have chosen one extreme end of the addiction spectrum for emotive purposes.
The other extreme is where an addict chooses to get on welfare so that they have some one to fund their habit, unfortunately that type is in the vast majority.
Rubbish!
Addictions are RIFE in Australia! They affect seemingly normal looking families in each and every street of this country.
The vast majority of addicts addicted to the number 1 favoured substance in Australia actually work! Where I work we like to call this type of addict an ALCOHOLIC.
Alcoholism, in my opinion and experience, is the number 1 addiction in Australia.
There are more people in Australia who are are alcoholics than there are people addicted to illegal substances.

Oh **bleep**. I got reported! I thought we were supposed to be adults having a debate. But like a little child running to the teacher"miss, miss, she said something that upset me" . It's been a while since I've been on here since the personal attacks and vitriol became the norm for some. They seem to be allowed but god forbid anyone disagree with them and lookout. What an absolute waste of what was once a fun and informative forum. And seeing as I will probably be banned. Yes ! You are full of hatred and anger. So much so that can only assume a lot don't post on here anymore. Why would
don't let it bother you, some posters are very sensitive, often those that complain the most about censorship. don't get chased away, my advice is respond to some and not to some others. it could appear that for some the intention is to goad others into upsetting posters feelings.

@poddster wrote:Buzz, and everyone else, may I point out that nowhere did I mention DRUG addiction specifically.
Addiction in any form is a negative attribute, and please dont try on the "addict gene" that does not wash either.
Addict gene? LOL!
You assume a little bit too much
Haven't you read what others posted about becoming addicted being a learned behaviour?

buzz, it is obviously beyond the comprehension of some in the general public that drug addiction is a disease not a lifestyle choice.

what about internet addiction?
on 03-03-2014 09:27 PM
not by me Alex

Not by me Alex, and yes there are forces at work to shut down any serious debate, there are third parties who take delight in pitting poster against poster for sport.
Moderators if alexander*beetle was reported by a third party poster who has not participated in this debate kindly take note of who it was for future reference.
