Have you seen the new SPC ad for their new veg baked beans?
"Got a happy little human being who won’t eat their veggies?
Outsneak them thanks to new 100% Aussie made SPC Baked Beans and Spaghetti - with a serve of nutritious veggies hiding in the sauce.
Our new SPC Sneaky Veg range puts you one step ahead at the kitchen table with a serve of veg that can’t be seen, making sure your kids stay as happy little human beings."

How much nutrition are kids going to get out of those those veges mushed in with baked beans?
Oh well I guess I just gave them some free advertising, lol

Wasn't the point being the kids won't know the 'sneaky' vege are in the sauce, therefore they will quite happily scoff down the baked beans as usual? Mum & Dad know there is extra vege in the sauce. What's pathetic about that?
I know something else that's pathetic but I don't want to mention it here.

My youngest would not let vegetables pass her lips.....she lived on lamb chops, chicken, bacon and mashed potato. But she was rather partial to my bolognese sauce....little did she know she was eating carrots and anything else I could hide in the sauce.
To this day the family still prefers my bol sauce with the hidden veges, even now that they know what is in it.
I don't have a problem with the baked beans with added veges....at least the advertisements are honest. I am sure a lot of parents of picky eaters will approve too.

Me neither.
I have a 12 year old who is a very fussy eater who would happily live on baked beans if she had a choice.
The SPC ones are Australian and the sugar content is less than what she would get from a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice.
If they have added some extra veges to the sauce, then I applaud them lol!

I guess you and Lyndal will be buying up big then.
SPC will be pleased I gave them free word of mouth advertising, lol.
My way of supporting Aus industry!

Yeah, sure SPC would be impressed you think their marketing ploy is pathetic.

Yep we do buy up big. Currently have cupboards full of Aussie products including loads of SPC/Ardmona/Taylors.
And as I rarely watch TV or buy magazines, it has little to do with marketing.

Just as well I brought it up on this forum then.

Initial thoughts are that it is a 'good' idea.....but on second thoughts not.
How much vegetable matter will actually be in the can.....?
You can bet your baked bean socks that extra sugar will be added to 'mask' any decent veg content.
Beans are good for you. They are veg anyways and a protein veg as they are a legume variety of veg.
Kids should be introduced to fresh veg soon as they start solids IMO....and as their taste buds develop let them taste as many as you can handle buying and cooking.
It is hard work and time consuming being a 'good' provider for children.
Throwing them a can of baked beans with some extra veg once a month, so long as not packed full of sugar, won't kill off their brain cells and give them diabetes. Some can read avidly and might read the ingredients box on the can though!!

I still make bol sauce with veggies LOL a staple when my kids were 6-10 years of age. I packed it with kidney beans, grated carrot, grated sweet potato, peas, broccolli, spinach and at times when they would not eat veg first pureed spinach and brocolli they were none the wiser.
Remember them asking "Mum are you making the meat sauce WITH or WITHOUT vegetables?.....coz I won't eat the one you make with the vegetables.....".....I would reply "Okay"......and promptly puree the veg and add to the pot *HUMPFFfff!*
