I was thinking you could used a wheeled garment racks that cost about $12 from large department store. Put a large sheet over it. If you are trying to trap air conditioner air into a part of a room.
The room dividers can be expensive. $30,$40 or $50. Also I would think they could fall over more easily.

When we were buying an air con, the saleswoman told us we could hang sheets in the doorways to get better use of the open plan areas. My OH just stared at her with his mouth gaping.........

You can use two coat racks and hang curtains off the hooks.

the thing is that attempting to trap the air with sheets , clothing racks and maybe room dividers is that it will leak out and be inefficient.
a fan or fans on the opposite side has the effect of holding it in place with a cushion of air. its difficult to calculate whether running an extra fan is costlier in terms of electricity than turning the aircon up. this method works though.

you could round up a number of friends and stand them in a line with arms linked and then bore them stiff.
When that has been accomplished paint them the colour of your choice.
That would become a feature and a good topic for conversation 🙂
