Band aids are a bit smooth and shiny. I much prefer an Elastoplast.

Why is that does anyone know?
You see them all the time on coking shows (goodness those people must be careless with knives ) but I don't think I've ever seen them for sale anywhere.

Perhaps that is why they are used in the food industry because they stand out , unlike the flesh coloured ones .
Less chance of one ending up unnoticed in something you are cooking ?

Yes and Robertson's had to remove them from their Marmalde & Jam preserve jars - which they've used as their mascot since 1910 - because it offended the wailers and screamers of the politically correct tribe. Robertson's also produced little enamel pin badges of the Gollies as sportsmen, musicians, etc, which I think eBay also removed. Pathetic, it really is.
'The debate started when Paula Dahlberg, a blogger born in Colombia, argued on a radio talk show that the labelling of only beige plasters as "skin-coloured" contributed to everyday racism.
"Usually I try and find a clear plaster, to try and be a little more discreet, precisely because there are no plasters available close to my skin colour … it's part of what is usually called the whiteness norm, that white people are normal," she said.'

I prefer transparent. They stick better.

Its cause theres no 'blue' food- thats why the bandaids are blue and not some other colour...you can buy them in Chemists..

It also means the food is supposed to be thrown out cos it's contaminated.
