So 2/3rds of the average.
That will probably improve in the next 4 years, so well done for trying to better yourselves, and the world's perception of you. Which ain't great at the moment.

Well, I suppose we can't make everyone happy. The billions we give isn't enough, the positive results are but a drip in the bucket. Americans stink.

Well, I think Americans have somehow let themselves get distracted to the extent that they have unwittingly allowed huge corporations to own their country. The medical system and the Fed are two examples.
I think that too many Americans believe that the world is part of the USA and not that the USA is part of the world

Yes there are many who thing that tezza. I remember someone in the US gov't saying .... "Our oil is under their sand". I don't know what context it was said in but there are people in the US that believe that. Many still believe that Bush was about spreading freedom, liberty and democracy.

Over 300 million people and we're somehow supposed to pass judgement on them as if they are all the same?
On another board long ago and far away, I got riled when a couple of English people basically accused all Australians of being a bunch of uneducated, drunkard crooks. It's a bit sweeping, isn't it!
In the same way, I'd hate it if I were American and people who had maybe never even been there judged all Americans eg as gun toting red necks.
Doesn't mean we can't look at trends or cultural habits that differ, as long as we don't assume they apply to everyone there.
My experience with Americans has shown they are vastly different. On the whole, the ones I have been in contact with have been quite well educated & reasonably friendly and polite. The family I know in Wisconsin lives pretty much as I do (suburban Melb). They are perhaps better off financially but live a similar lifestyle, work, cook, have occasional holidays, watch Tv etc
The Texan i knew was very friendly & intelligent, had his own business, loved horses, owned a boat and had a 'can do' attitude, which extended to taking shots at an opposum that went into his kitchen. Caused some damage to the kitchen cabinets he said, but well worth it. Once shot a stray dog that wandered onto his property and tried to attack him. Was licensed to carry a gun and did so. Also loved cooking but had some recipe that involved putting a can of beer into a chook on a BBQ.
Chalk and cheese but both Americans. Must admit the Texan had a lot of entertainment value though. Was sad when he died.

I've known a few white Americans - had an involvement with one. Like it is here, some were nice, some were jerks and a couple led the SD@RnR lifestyle big time. I've also known a couple of black Americans. Both were intelligent, very well spoken, funny and charming.

If only you could pop open our skulls, bob, and delve inside with a special "What does this person really think?" meter.
Asking this sort of question on a public forum begs the question of how the objective value of any answer can be ascertained. I don't think you're looking for truthful answers, but rather for reactions.
If I say that I think Americans are all gun-totin' whisky-sippin' cowboys, you have no way of verifying that it's my "real" opinion. (It isn't - but how do you know that the disclaimer itself is true?)
If I say that I think Americans are flesh and blood like any other human being, you can't be sure that I don't secretly think they are ... now what's the theory...? Oh yes... LIZARD PEOPLE. Or the walking undead - nosferatu. Or made of plasticine.
In truth (but you will have to take my word for it), I have a very mundane opinion about Americans. They are humans with all of the failings and wonders of human beings.
The culture of Americans is another question, and it is so diverse that one can scarcely cram it all into the same yoghurt pot.

Did you like the beerbutt chicken? I use a can of Sprite instead, it gives the chicken a very nice citrus flavor.

TV - Internet - Film - Radio. I've gotta be thankful for.
But
Those were probably invented by liberals that are into science.
