I teach and sell on eBay, the main reason for this is the flexibility and being able to be here for my family.
It's worthwhile, I never could leave my children, I did work for someone else (great job and boss) with the first one as that wasn't too difficult to manage.

and before you say go C&S or go registered, that isn't viable for me
large letter items would be too much work for little return

What I do for a living is worthwhile as I can support eBay sellers and afford an iPhone 😉
I support eBay a lot more than hubby would like
and to tie in to the other thread...for my work I rely on the iThingy and use it constantly.

@joz*garage wrote:not precisely, i'll try one more time, are you happy where youre at, getting down to the nitty and gritty of buying and selling on ebay?
Ebay is my main source of income. I work it as a job, currently around 30 hours a week. I go into the office around 8.30, have 45 minutes off for lunch and finish the day at the post office around 4.30 pm. I dont mind it ( most of the time ) . I have worked in a number of jobs over the years and this is one of the better ones.
It is comfortable in the office. I have a large picture window overlooking our garden and onto a river that fronts our house. My ebay business grew out of a hobby, so doing something I enjoy., selling something that interests me and surrounded by the same items I used to collect. Now that it is a business I come across some of the rarest and most interesting collectables that I could never justify buying as a private collector. I have regular customers from around the world who I talk to from time to time about our shared interests. I am fortunate to make a reasonable hourly wage from my ebay business. I dont make a fortune but enough to pay the bills and live comfortably.
Of couse I get a few nutters, scammers and pains in the ...., but most people are pretty good and I enjoy not having to answer to a boss.
Thats the good stuff.......... Unfortunately ebays policies are making it harder all of the time to plan for the future and run a succesfull business on the platform. The FVF on postage, 6 month return policies, defect system, throttling of sales, listings going AWOL in customer searches, regular site outages, constant changes for the sake of it while necessary systems remain faulty for months, seller bans without appeals process etc. All make it very difficult to plan a future here.
With this in mind, I am expanding a hobby farm business into a much larger commercial sheep grazing operation to reduce my reliance on ebay. I have had a few hundred sheep for years and really enjoy working with them. My aim is to get numbers up to 1000 sheep, which should provide a reasonable income.

donna I really admire your success on ebay and very well done but what I can never understand about you, you are a poster girl for capitalism but you are a rabid lefty?!

chameleon
I think you'll find 1000 sheep a bit like ebay.
"defective sheep, sheep going AWOL, regular sheep outages (deaths), constant changes of direction for no reason,
no appeal process works, etc., they don't read the instructions or listen to what you say"
And then of course you have the babies to contend with
The only good thing is, you can eat them !

maybe buying and selling on ebay isn't their idea of making it a business
woe, just too much time needs to be spent in front of the screen, for me anyhow. but if you enjoy it, donna?!...
If it keeps people 'busy'......... great.......a hobby should do that.

Not sure why you are having a go at Donna continuously.
Politics ????? I know of two posters on this thread who have posted supportive threads
who don't agree with her politics (me being one of them) but credit where due.
I think you'll find Donna does it well, as a business and is "all in", not as a hobby like some.

You are choosing to see my post as a dig at one poster, rather than for what it is.
My post is in response to Joz........ You are not required to like my responses. That's okay.
