Re: What do you really think about lawyers?

I don't understand why everyone goes off at them. They have a (professional) job to do and charge no more per hour than any other profession. In fact even the high rated law firms have hourly rates less than, say, a plumber. Only difference is the amount of time it takes to help people. All of that equals dollars.

And I know a lot of lawyers and they are PARTY ANIMALS! Put a drink in their hand, a bit of disco music, point them towards a dance floor and they are there all night...

Smiley LOL

For a lawyer to read an email costs more than I earned per hour in my last job.

Re: What do you really think about lawyers?

My doctor charges me $65 per a 15mins consultation. That is around 30% more expensive than the average rate by a solicitor in a small-medium firm in Sydney.

I went to a specialist the other day and was charged $350 for a 30mins consultation even though I was out of there in just over 10mins. That is about double the rate of a senior associate or a senior barrister in a medium sized city practice.

If I take into account my specialists visit was only 10mins, then the rate is double the rate of hiring a top QC. Aroud 85% more expensive.

How is it that we don't whine about doctors being bloodsuckers?

Re: What do you really think about lawyers?

Unfortunately Martini, unlike the payments made to your medical doctors and specialists which are rebated by up to 80% by Medicare or your private health fund so you get the vast majority of it back, the same does not apply to members of the legal profession.

Perhaps that's why we don't whine about doctors being bloodsuckers. ๐Ÿ™‚
