I find it odd how you refer to both of your daughters???
I made that comment in relation to the topic.. I am hardly going to say most lawyers are shonks am I? (when most likely both my daughters are or will be one).

Dont make them sound to holy, they all HAVE TO do a certian amount of pro bono work. I had a very good friend who was a well respected barrister and he had to do an amount of pro bono work and did not have the choice of clients.
Like most doctors, its all about the money which is OK if they do the job well and represent their clients to the best of their ability, sadly some don't and that is why respect for our professional people has sunk to a low level.
Why did they have to do the pro bono work?
Was it company policy? Part of their Corporate Social Responsibility Policy?
Has there been new legislation since June 2013?
Admittedly, the most recent documented information I have is June 2013, but as of that date pro bono work was voluntary.
Nor is compulsory pro bono work listed in the Solicitors Rules of September 2013.

my*mum, it is certainly not compulsory in their chambers. They both do it because they want to. I am not trying to make them out to be "holy" just acknowledging how hard it has been for a kid from the wrong side of the tracks to get where he is now.

My friend does pro bono work because the victorian govt wont fund a lot of legal aid., and he is a good person mostly. the family of a recent murder victim abused him for acting for the accused. sometimes doing the right thing can get you offside with people.
