Here's a good article that explains a lot about the differences.

FN: "John, he said "much much faster broadband, much more quickly and much more affordably have a listen."
I heard "under the coalition you'll have much much faster broadband much more quickly and much more affordably than under the current government"
Which I would consider means: faster broadband will be available much before the current government can provide their scheme, and at a lower cost.
FN & DY have you read the oft quoted Delimiter and Renai LeMay's latest NBN thoughts?.

With the level of CS expertise I think more Telstra shares are in order!

I am curious fron a technical point of view FN as to what speeds you have and data allowance that will underwrite this statement:-
"I use Sat for everything and get great speeds, far better in fact than other people get via land based services"
Some satellite plans:-
800/128 Telstra 4GB
iinet: Satellite plans come with up to 6/1 mbps speeds and 20GB (NBN actually)
ANT Download speed - 1024kb/s Upload speed - 256kb/s 5Gb
Westnet 1Mbps/512kbps 5GB + 12GB
And of course NBN 6/1, 10/20 Gb, under perfect conditions, Due to become 12/1 in 2015 but not when school is "out"
"far better in fact than other people get via land based services" ????
I have been on HFC (Telstra) land based cable for some years, could have a broadband connection of up to 100/2 Mbps. but happy with 1/256.!
