Cricky a person cant avoid paying income tax but the the rich can easily avoid paying GST by not spending their money that way they will be equal to the poor and have nothing to show for their efforts or complain about 😉
i think I'm interpreting that the right way - in which case, where is the incentive to try and become rich? Where is the incentive to work towards not relying on the welfare system? (for those capable of doing so)
I dunno - maybe I'm wrong, but I earn money so I can spend it on me, my family and redistribute it in the manner I want to. Part of that is contributing to the welfare system - as I said before I do think we need one - I just don't think that our current welfare system is properly managed, and I think the current manner in which the redistribution of wealth occurs is unfair.

It seems to me that it is the rich that pay a higher percentage in tax,
It seems to me that there are huge advantages of being rich, one of them is tax avoidance.
so rich people break the law, is that what you are saying?

Criky I personally have never had a cent from welfare and if things don't change I never will.
I have paid in tax what some people earn in a year and still pay heaps, but I still have empathy for those that need extra help via welfare and my taxes.
What you claim to be trying to do many have been there and done it, but don't begrudge those that haven't for what ever reason, not everyone can be on the top of the heap and its not because they haven't done the best they could or didn't try.

Dictionary Definitions: I've got one word - mysoginist
So, meanings change.
The PM has never and probably never will change dictionary meanings.
The acceptable use of that word has been changing for years.
Most dictionaries updated the meaning long before the PM 2 speeches in which she used the word twice.
The way people carry on you would think she used it frequently.
She said it in 2 speeches. Just 2!

I don't know his story (just his university and damn it's fine!) but I do know he went to jail.
saying rich people avoid tax is a bit of a generalization when only one example is provided.
I reckon I could name at least 100% more than one of "poor people" who manipulate the welfare system to their advantage too...
Alan Bond just got named and shamed cos he was rich - how many "poor people" would achieve the same coverage?
