The rest of my post disappeared.
Deserving of some comfort is fitting about mine.
Love the volvo joe. ๐
the image was taken from google that resembles my car.
the roof and boot is faded, it is the rear head rest model and has factory mags.
there are few common problems you get with 240s but arent expensive to sort and ive adressed them...good car

Yea Kopen What better choice from that era if safety is your main priority.
Looks like a 740 or 940 turbo model? cant complain about the power there!
Mine is considered to be under powered and i tend to agree - only from take off though, Theres enough power up top & for towing but i dont recommend towing very heavy loads for these cars even though theres heaps of power to do so it can throw your wheel alignment out! had to sort that out twice since ive owned the car and the drive shaft universal joints, ive noticed a slight vibration at 90 ks. (maybe aftermarket heavy duty unis can be fitted)

My work car says on the dash---overdue for a service-
check driveline--put seat belt on etc.
The outside screams------------wash me.....................Richo.

looks like a V70 or S70 or maybe an 850R to me , five cylinder turbo or naturally aspirated.
i've owned the wagon. parts and maintainence are a bit pricier than the 240 due to the extra complexity and the front wheel drive making things a little tighter in the engine bay. just as rugged though.. and you dont have to take the dash out if the heater fan fails (a defect in victoria that will stop you getting a road worthy. the trick is to wire up a computer fan in there somewhere.. it doesn't do much of a job, but when the inspector turns the switch it works)

using up much more resources and polluting the air more than necessary
Actually its funny to see comments like this made by people that haven't done any research or have no real knowledge of cars.
I have a largish car for towing a caravan and boat, the funny thing is while it is heavy and big it also can go like a cut snake or pull like a truck, even funnier is while not towing it uses less fuel than many 4 cylinder cars ๐

High way mine is, Fuel Extra Urban (l/100km) 8.0
now can yours tow over 2 ton of caravan
does yours have all the goodies of a limo
and as I had the unfortunate experience of getting T boned on Australia day by a women who failed to giveway at a giveway sign I wonder if i would be here to post if I had been in a sardine tin.
and as its a user pays society we live in and I can afford to pay I will drive a car suited to what I do.

I think you must have missed this bit Fuel Extra Urban (l/100km) 8.0
Sorry I can only be responsible for myself and family and I cant control what people crash into me with which in this case was a commodore on a rural road with posted speed limits of 80kmh
I am not in the habit of crashing cars, in this case the other parties insurance has accepted full liability and in the crash before this was 35 years ago and I was stationary when a car involved in an accident with another car spun into me.
