The problem I have with the ridiculous argument that golf clubs or knives or legs of lamb can also be used to inflict lethal harm is that that is not their primary purpose. Shooting and killing things was not the reason for their invention.
It's ok, I'm used to being ignored.
Lurks, why do you think it ridiculous that a golf club or knife or even a leg of frozen lamb can be used as lethal weapons? And fact all of those articles HAVE been used as murder weapons.
If a person is intent on murder or inflicting injury they will find a way to carry out their intent by whatever means available.
It is not the item that is lethal it is the person with the intent to cause injury or death

Well I guess that it is pretty hard to belt yourself around the head with a golf club
I have seen a few golf clubs with bent shafts were a golfer has taken out their frustration on a tree or rock.
I have yet to see a bent barrel caused bty frustration.

The worst damage I've seen from a golf club was from Tiger Wood's wife. Imagine if she had her hands on a gun.

Over 900 chickens beaten to death with golf clubs
Fresno county sheriff’s deputies are investigating a massive case of animal cruelty. Over 900 chickens were beaten to death at a poultry farm. The attackers used a golf club to batter the helpless animals. A reward is being offered to help catch the killers.
It’s hard to imagine the brutality of what occurred a chicken shed. Fresno county sheriffs investigators believe two men broke in, and went berserk.
“Once they were inside the suspects used a golf club we believe and possibly some other type of instrument to maliciously kill several hundred chickens.” said Fresno County Sheriff’s Deputy Chris Curtice.
Foster Farms reports 920 chickens were killed. in a statement the company said,”The perpetrator committed an unconscionable act of animal cruelty. This appears to be a random act of violence.”
Foster Farms is working with local law enforcement on their investigation into this matter and is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of the persons responsible for the crime.
Investigators have some evidence, but are hoping the reward will prompt someone to come forward.

So is this supposed to raise a smile perhaps?
It's a report of a shocking case of animal cruelty carried out by a psycho/nutter and has no place on a
thread about sport.

Standard deflection response.
The need to compare (in injury terms) the sports of shooting and all codes of football is specious, pointless and misleading in the extreme.
It proves nothing except the person who attempted to connect the two in order to either legitimise his sport or validate the reintroduction of weapons into the community is bereft of proper argument for whatever he is arguing about.
Which one is it poddster ? I don't believe anyone is denying you the opportunity to practice and compete in your chosen sport ... are they ?

No it is supposed to show that a golf club can be just a lethal as a firearm, which happens to be true.
Once again I must remind you that it is the INTENT to kill that does the killing. Inanimate objects are just inanimate objects with no INTENT.
Basically a golf club is similar to a firearm the design of both is to propel a projectile to a distant target.

When a toddler picks up a firearm and kills their parent their is no intent to kill. If there was no gun there would have been no death.
And no, a golf club could not be used to kill many people in less than a minute.

do you deny that in the wrong hands a gun can and has gone off accidentally killing someone?
there are many such tragedies in the news, yet I have NEVER seen a news story where someone found a golf club on the floor and accidentally killing someone whilst looking at it.
