It probably is in some way. What I don't understand is why so many of the so called programs are designed to leave people addicted to methadone for years rather than to reduce the dose and facilitate an environment in which they are able to learn how to live addiction free.
My mate is on the program and is doing really well. He is stepping down from the methadone. Its a long process. He's been on it for 2 years after a meth and heroin addiction.
He now has his licence back, is legally emplyed, has changed his life completely, but admits its the hardest thing he has ever done.
He looks like he is alive now. For a while I thought zombies were real 😞

That's a good result. I hope he continues on the path to a brighter future and enjoys his life.

So, basically, big fail by you then.
No, I'm just conversing with other posters.
What? Do you read and follow what you post?
Of course. Conversation is good. You should try it some time.

are you nuts?all that does is return it to being a health issue instead of the criminal issue it has become.
its a crimminal issue for a reason.
It should not be a criminal issue. It has been that for 50 years and the laws have not worked and the problem has increased. The attack on use must be changed drastically.

They are illegal because they are detrimental to the mental health of long term users. As to the pain relief issue. Define your pain that justifies these drugs being on the street and available to anyone.
Most illicit drugs in Australia are illegal because we blindly followed the Americans (who also have a massive influence on UN drug policy). I bet we don't follow the Yanks as more and more U.S. states legislate for legal recreational marijuana.
Why would someone looking for pain relief buy their medication on the street if the same drugs were legal and available from approved dispensaries at a better price with assured purity?
Well this is an interesting turn of events. Sue me, but herion has never been mentioned as relief for cancer sufferers (weed) or pain relief for terminal patients (morphine) but then, I'm not a medical professional, and only have personal, non recreational use experience to base my opinions on.
"Sue me, but herion has never been mentioned as relief for cancer sufferers"
Is that a joke?

@nevynreally wrote:So which is it? Heroin is okay or not?
Some of you posters are very confusing.
Would not life be easy if everything was simply OK or not OK. Taking medication when it is not necessary is always potentially harmful, but we all take some now and then. Look through MIMS, how many side effects and contra indications each medication has. Even some of those bought from supermarket shelves can be seriously harmful if taken in larger dose.
Abusing drugs, any drugs is always going to do some harm, and it will do more harm to some people than to others. But over the years, I have met some very highly functioning people in well paid managerial jobs, who have used heroin recreationally, every few weeks or so. Their high income meant they did not turn to crime to finance their drugs. They may cause themselves some harm, but probably less harm than somebody who drinks the average amount of alcohol.

You wanna try ice? Be my guest, you will be addicted more or less straight away and no doubt dead or in jail within a few years. God you come out with strange things
This is not true. The same was said of heroin years ago, that was not true either.
know a few meth heads to get that info do you?
See post # 8
I don't know anybody who has jumped off a bridge either, but I know from experts what happens when they do.
The trouble with misinformation about drugs which is passed on to schoolchildren is that they know that it is wrong, so they dismiss the parts of the lecture which are true.
i do know a few so Ill stand by my statement. Ive seen the devestation it causes all round and how quick the addication took hold. So dont accuse me of misinformation as yours is not so correct either.
You misinformation is in bold type in your quoted post above. Your statement is not true.
Listen to this segment. Lots of information. An expert on the subject.

ok, listening now but the "expert" is someone who has researched it. What is research against actually being addicted. Id listen to them when they say how quick they got addicted. I have seen it for myself. Or are you accusing me of lying????
"dave" said himeself at the start, he went to a party, injected it (ice) and more or less woke up the next day addicted. Did you miss that bit.
Interviewer said its highly addictive.
Dave said he has snorted and smoked it previously and was ok. Injected it and BANG!!!.
Dave said his life went down hill fast "pretty much straight away"
Dave had a job, a life, his own business, had property, houses, family and lost it all in 3 months. Is that not fast? Within 6 months he was homeless and living in his car and stealing to get ice. And this was after rec using numerous drugs for years including smoking and snorting ice. Injecting is a whole new ball game
So thank you for backing up my statement on how quickly you get addicted.

Is he dead?
Listen again and you will hear the difference in mehods used, and you will see that your blanket statement was not true. There are people who have been using it for years without any of your dire predictions.
