about a month ago i bought a small split system air conditioner from 'Kogan' (an online shoping site)
normally not an item i would buy as the size if bought locally would be about $700 for just the unit
but kogan had an end of summer sale unit at $430.
then they had a free delivery sale too on the airconditioner
then they sent me a 'get $20 off' promotion
bringing the price down to $410 delivered.
so i got one.
i have been planning to save up to have it installed in a few months.
i will now spend the $750 on the install

The coronavirus supplement won’t begin until 27 April.
The first household payment won’t happen until April and the second until July.
Pensioners won’t see a boost until May. Employers won’t get one until 28 April.
We all agree people need immediate support.
pensioners will get the first $750 on april 1st or thereabouts
the Govt. have delayed all these payments till the end of April or May as they're trying to avoid a negative June quarter. I'm sure they called that $750 payment "immediate" when they announced it.... but it's not.... the centrelink queues are long already.. people need assistance now

there are differing reports on the dates.. the Govt website says this
https://www.servicesaustralia.gov.au/individuals/news/750-one-economic-support-payment
You don’t need to do anything, we’ll pay you automatically. You’ll get the money from 31 March with most getting it by 17 April 2020.
so you'll just have to keep an eye on your bank account. it is coming... but it should've been 'immediate' imo

"Payments will be from 31 March 2020 on a progressive basis, with over 90 per cent of payments expected to be made by mid-April."
from the govt's own site.
the $750 should be automatically paid into recipients account with their regular payment on or after the 31st march.
my next payment is due on the 31st so i'll know then.

this is going to be a real mess, depositing money into already established accounts is the easy bit
dealing with tens of thousands of new unemployed in a mater of days, thats going to be a pandemic all on its own.
