Unfortunately I've suffered the most hideous of haircut so I've decided to buy a wig to wear until my appalling haircut grows out into something that doesn't resemble a weird spiked pixie cut. (Even my dearest friend stood staring with her mouth open at the monstrosity on my head).
There seems to be an enormous range of wigs available online, but I've already come across a couple of dodgy websites (pretending to be in Australia but they are actually based in china). I've read literally hundreds of complaints about one particular site, where the picture is of a beautiful flowing wig and they receive something that looks like sewn together animal hair! I've bought a couple of cheapie wigs via ebay just for normal day to day, but would like a nice one to wear out.
Would love to hear from anyone who has successfully purchased a good realistic wig from a reputable company. I'm probably looking for the lace front monotop synthetics as their retain their style after washing, and the human hair wigs are a bit out of my price range.
Thanks! 🙂

I did tell the hairdresser I wasn't happy, it wasn't anything like what I had asked for and it turned out she misheard what I asked for. I couldn't see how short she had cut the back before she started on the top/sides. Once I saw I stopped her immediately, but she had to cut the rest short or it would have looked worse. She didn't charge me for the cut.
It will take months to grow out, and although a hat would work to cover most of it I can't wear hats to work and am too mortified to see customers looking like this. Thankfully I'm on holiday at the moment! I have tried a wig before that a friend of mine owned, I borrowed it for a night out but she can't recall where she got it from. It was an American made one that was synthetic but was so well made you couldn't tell it was a wig. Was about $400 I think. I'm happy to pay that much for a wig I can use for up to 6 months.

Disaster.I was thinking of going to a newly opened hairdresser franchise in the Mall, haircuts $20, or colour, cut & blow wave $55. I may not be brave enough to try them now.

There used to be a very good wig business in Melbourne but I can't think of the name of the company.
They had a huge range of styles, sizes and colours.
Maybe try google.

Put a smile on your face and take a photo to look back on in the years ahead and make the best of it.
It WILL grow out and you will be fine.
Just laugh it off if asked and say you wanted a different look - a very different look.
buy one of the cotton head wraps at the Indian style clothing shops - I have them and they are very flattering
I do appreciate your feelings - I had a haircut years ago that was Waaaay to short and looked dreadful but I have a photo and it has long since grown out.
My daughter - when she was 5 - her grandmother took her for a haircut as nits were so bad that year - she came back with her long golden hair gone and a spiky pixie cut.
I cried and my daughter cried and she has refused to have her hair cut since - she is now 11 and her long straight very golden hair reaches her backside

Found one!
I-once-was-bump I just searched Wigs in Melbourne and found a company there who also sell online, you've just saved the day thank you! Price was reasonable for what I got too.
They do overnight delivery, so should be here Tuesday. Oh the relief!!
