This from men who didnt have sex yet..
Catholics can now remarry after they are divorced, senior cardinals say... but only if they abstain from sex Proposal was put forward by a group of 11 senior Catholic leaders Made it as backlash against Pope Francis’ attempt to give divorcees a fast-track route to forgiveness Likely to add to the confusion and pain felt by many divorced Catholic Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3230133/Catholics-remarry-divorced-senior-cardinals-say-abst...12-09-2015 04:25 PM - edited 12-09-2015 04:27 PM
How bizarre that the church can so brainwash it's members into believing that they have been 'tricked' etc into marriage so that a religious anullment means anything at all .....
In reality, no legal standing at all ....

In my opinion, the RC church (or any other church/religion for that matter) has no legal leg to stand on in terms of marriage.
who said anything about catholic
annulment being a civil law?
its a canon law. just like any other religion.
nothing to do with civil legalities.
its not a matter of opinion, its a fact.

Yes I know that Julia, the point is, that in my opinion, "canon law" in terms of marriage is so artificial and a method of control for the church members, that's all it is.
Nothing to do with civil law indeed, I agree, and that, as far as I'm concerned, turns it into nothing 'law' .. just something designed to keep the followers fearful ... Therefore I see it as having no legal standing, even for the church.
I don't need, ask, want or require anyone to agree with me, and I don't speak for anyone else ...

well no. you said it was your opinion the
church had no legal leg to stand on it term
of marriage. did someone claim otherwise?
if you dont want to follow the canon law -
leave the church. if you want to eat pork -
dont become muslim lol

Sadly the Catholic Church is out of touch. Out of touch with the New Testament, the current times and many other things.
The current Pope has made efforts to move with the times...but I feel he is fighting a losing battle.
MY OPINION...as a former Catholic.

No, nobody claimed otherwise, however,I didn't enter the discussion on that premise ...
I know a few catholics who don't follow all catholic canon law as it stands, and I do admire their ability, tenacity and intelligence not to, but to stay in it under those circumstances, it might be argued, is a symptom of faith that works with serious doubts.

i think every religion has an aspect
that is out of touch. society has been
moving very fast in recent times.

Hi Trish xxx so good to see you here again, have missed you.
I believe the new pope Francis is a breath of fresh air as far as popes go and agree with you that he is fighting an uphill battle that may well be futile now, guess it's a wait and see game, but a game that is possibly too little too late because all the damage was done centuries ago and carries through.

"I think every religion has an aspect that is out of touch"
