Political threads?
I think they are annoying and spam for the relevant policital parties.
Just my opinion.

There has to be a whole world of more interesting stuff to write about than politics (again, just my opinion) and having said that not one post on here will have any affect on the politicians and what they do or don't do.
Then post something else.
There actually aren't that many politica threads these days in comparison to 6 months ago. But on the other hand there isn't much else interesting being posted so they tend to stay at the top.
But, seriously, post something else.
yeah and then watch how quickly it gets bumped down to the bottom by any number of new political threads on the same subject.

So what icy? I notice you post lots of stuff that isn't political. So do I. We get some discussion on them and then they disappear. No big deal. If more people did the same then the boards wouldn't be dominated by political threads.
I don't actually think there are that many political threads at the moment. And at least most are real discussion and debate with decent opinions and somewhat decent media. Unlike what we had to put up with 6-12months ago. Now that WAS spam.

No big deal 'tini, except that a casual visitor would come here at any given time looking to read a bit of lighthearted general stuff and all they see is political thread after political thread and back out quick smart.
I've noticed that most people participating in or starting the political threads don't post on any other topic other than politics.
If this keeps up CS will be THE political board because no other topic will be entertained for discussion.

Last QandA tonight. Not a bad panel, except that annoying Tara Moss.

Icy,
What you said below is what partly motiviated my original post. I am so over politics in general, in fact I hate the whole shebang.

There are some regular posters who start political threads that I don’t bother reading because they are usually so predictable and repetitive and often just a cut and paste..
What annoys me is the personal (and often insulting) attacks on those who do not share the same view. They attack the person instead of the argument.
Perhaps they feel that a personal putdown strengthens their own argument. Well IMO it actually lessens their credibility, whether posters, columnists, shock jocks.........
However, there are some reasonable politcal posters with whom I do not agree, but I do read and think about their comments.
Unfortunately these are few, and far between.

If political topics keep getting bumped up that means that there are many more people interested in politics than the other topics. It really is very democratic. I think there are many extremely boring topics posted here, but that is fine with me, I just do not bother reading them.

Which only proves that there should be a separate political disussion board for those that like to exclusively discuss politics.
It galls me to think the fun and games threads were moved to a separate board because ppl were sick of the games threads dominating CS or Chinwag or whatever it was. Now we've reached a similar situation with political discussions dominating the boards, yet the mods let it go!

well .... what about a good Religious thread?
Bob .... what about a discussion on abiogenesis/biopoiesis V evolution - we haven't had one of those for ages.
