I actually met someone with a science degree today who doesn't believe in evolution and KNOWS that all humans came from Adam and Eve.:O
"Why are there still monkeys today if humans evolved from monkeys?" is a common belief amongst creationists. Who here doesn't know the answer to this?
Who here doesn't think that evolution is the best explanation for all the different living species on Earth today?

Yeah, think about it, it's not hard to believe people kill for their religious belief. When you think you have God on your side, you're allowed to do anything including killing your own son.
Do you remember how many were killed over a Danish cartoon or a movie on Mohommad.
If you're willing to kill, then not wanting to be friends is a trivial decision then.

Highly evolved extra terrestrial lifeforms may be living in space and would be welcomed into the church - "no matter how many tentacles", one of the Pope's astronomers has said.
The senior Vatican scientist, Brother Guy Consolmagno, said that he would be delighted if we encountered intelligent aliens and would be happy to baptise them.
His pronouncement opens up the possibility of space missionaries heading out to the stars to convert aliens to Christianity.
Wow! How's that for ego? I assume he was joking?
I saw an interview with him, yes he does have a great sense of humour 😉

BTW it's blasphemous to say Jesus was a Jew even though he was.
Really? According who whose beliefs?

I have friends that are Atheist, friends that take the Adam and Eve story literally, friends that are Muslim....Our beliefs differ but those are our personal beliefs. Real friends have respect for each others' beliefs. So how do you lose friends over personal beliefs? Can you explain that to me?
I think it's easy.
Start a religion vs evolution discussion with both sides thinking they are right and that the other side is completely stupid for not agreeing with them and you lose a friendship.
There is no other topic as divisive.
Its possible. Take CS as an example. How many times has this topic been discussed? The same people still here talking to each other 😄

i know some creationists. and it doesn't matter how much i laugh at them .. we still get on alright.
its no surprise that the pope's astronomer believes aliens exist, he already inhabits a parrallel universe. ..

I believe God breathed life into Adam after creating him from dust.
But where did the 'dust' come from and how did God create it?
If nothing existed before God created the Universe then
how did God exist?

hey Bob, why don't you start a poll with questions like - how many believe in God, how many Creationists we have here, Evolutionists, or something like that. Those who prefer to keep their beliefs private might participate in an anonymous survey. I think it would be interesting.
I have a lot of Winter Sports to catch up on (love Ski Jumping) so will catch you later.

dont bother about global hunger , poverty and climate change.. just carry on as usual cause' we (well some) are going to those mansions in the sky.
this is what makes BB's so dangerous , apathy born of a belief that we are only here as a stopgap measure.. and that 'he will roll it all up and make a new one'

I'm more interested in why people believe rather than the numbers.

We have a 5 yo here who often questions the things people tell her.
She is told that everyone thinks differently, believe different things and that is their right, just like it is hers, to believe as she chooses but we can all still be polite about it, even if we don't agree. She gets it.
