Why are Atheists so militant, strident and intolerant of people with religious beliefs?

You just need to look at Pol Pot, Stalin and Mao ZeDong.

How do they know there's no God? It's just a belief system.

The connection to the Passover is that the trial and crucifixion of Jeus took place against the backdrop of the Passover.

Thursday – Passover proper. The lamb is killed, and Jesus and His disciples eat the Passover meal in the upper room.

Friday – the Day of Preparation. Jesus is tried and executed (although never convicted). The Jews continue their “Passover” celebrations with the chagigah, offerings made during the Feast of Unleavened Bread.

Saturday – the weekly Sabbath.

Sunday – Resurrection Day.

December 25th has long been argued about as the actual date.

Some say he was born in January.

But, meh,  it's a date they picked.

No idea about 'Good Friday'  Maybe it started out as God's Friday?

Just tossin' sh*t around now Kat.

I was brought up Catholic, but my mother's obsession with it turned me into an athiest.

The first recorded date of Christmas being celebrated on December 25th was in 336, during the time of the Roman Emperor Constantine. Prior to this, the Roman Empire celebrated the rebirth of the Unconquered Sun (Sol Invictus) on December 25th. They kept the date. So the date was originally pagan until Constantine decreed that Christianity was the official religion of Rome.

With respect to Easter, "The Council of Nicaea in 325 decreed that Easter should be observed on the first Sunday following the first full moon after the spring equinox (March 21). Easter, therefore, can fall on any Sunday between March 22 and April 25."

Both celebrations are based on beliefs from the New Testament, the Christian Bible.

The one I knew was:

While shepherds watched their turnip tops,

A'boiling in the pot,

The angel of the Lord came down.

And scoffed the bloomin' lot.
