Why are we blaming Hockey and Abott?

Obviously the money has got to come from somewhere. Where do you want to take it from???

Precisely.

If a business is not self sufficient than it fails. The same for a country or a household.

If you live on credit you are "owned"

I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

Do some research Iza and you will find that administering the mining tax cost more than it earns.

If you do some research you will find that the mining tax was to tax high profits of production not the low profits/losses during exploration and development stages.

Whats fasinating poddy is not a single one of the left can tell you how they would pay back this massive debt..... They just want more in hand outs

I am getting more than a little bit tired of the continual inference that anyone who expresses a left leaning opinion or comment is automatically "on benefits" and "handouts".  It's ignorant and demeaning.

Re: Why are we blaming Hockey and Abott?

Why are we blaming Hockey and Abbott? Because the changes they want to implement are not fair ones.

Low income family - income reduced up to 10.2 %

**23 yo unemployed changed to a different reduced benefit  - income reduced 18%

Wealthy people income reduced 0.9%

** told to earn or learn. Cuts made to training and education programs. TAFES cutting courses available in regional areas. Uni fees increasing.... NO JOBS to get in many areas.

Revenue raised by the mining tax Thu 3 Apr 2014,

The Minerals Resource Rent Tax (MRRT) came into force on July 1, 2012 and places a 22.5 per cent "super profits" tax on coal and iron ore producers. The most recent revenue forecasts by the federal Treasury are in the Mid-Year Economic and Fiscal Outlook 2013-14, published in December.

In this financial year the tax is projected to raise no money. Next year it is projected to bring in $450 million. In 2015-16 this rises to $1.2 billion, and in 2016-17 to $1.8 billion. The cumulative total over the four years of the forward estimates - the standard period used in federal budgets - is $3.4 billion.

The Abbott Government introduced its repeal legislation in November and the House of Representatives passed it that month. It was then referred to a Senate inquiry.

A Treasury submission to the Senate inquiry listed revenue forecasts for the mining tax, going back to the original estimates made in July 2010.

No Crystal, a country shouldn't be run like a business to make a profit for a few.

A country is a society not a business.  A country needs ot circulate it's wealth and spend to improve services and infrastructure for the benefit of the people.  A country does not need a large bank balance while creating a divide between the haves and have nots or affords and afford nots.
