I am so over all the cats roaming through our backyard.
Not only does it mean our pet rabbit can't be outside in his own backyard or that I have to watch out where I put my hands when I am gardening because there is cat c*ap every where or that we get woken up at night because of cat fights.
But today I have spent the afternoon washing down with bleach all the entrances to my house, the perimetre walls and garden pots because the stench of their spraying is unbearable. They are even spraying the cars in the driveway.
And whilst I know that every cat owner on here will say they are responsible cat owners or that their cat is always inside or that they have cat runs so their cats never leave their property, I have yet to meet a cat owner in Sydney that has any of the above.
If you can't keep a cat on YOUR property then you have no business owning a cat in the first place.

Bella got a good laugh out of that 🙂

Martini I totally agree, we dont have much of a cat prob here because of our dogs. When we first bought the house the area around both the front doors stunk of cat urine, it used to make me wantr to throw up when I smelt it. I dont know your council's laws but in my shire ALL cats MUST be registered/microchipped, so there is a way of tracing the cat's owner. Have you spoken to the local ranger re getting a cat trap? Most councils either loan or hire them out.
For those who think it's cruel to keep their cat on their own property, pls remember it's also cruel when they kill an innocent animal.

Of course I wouldn't recommend actually doing that to any cat but its hilliarous towards the end once the contraption is up and running!
Bella that was so funny!
Its actually a very good idea, and much more humane that many other methods people have used

Loved his commentary and the cat names! I did groan when saw it went for 8 mins but loved every minute of it.

I've only ever had a cat once. Mad Max.
He was always inside at night but I still don't really understand how a cat can be a totally indoors cat.
It just doesn't seem natural to me? I was glad Max went out to poop.
But spraying and peeing.... I hope he never did that (he was neutered) I'm so glad I have never lived anywhere where I had to deal with cats like that!

if people aren't prepared to keep their cat at home where it beongs then they shouldn't get one.
some think its cruel to keep a cat inside - i think its irresponsible to let a cat wander where it could be run over or mauled by a dog or even injured by someone who is fed up with other people's cats pooping in their yard.
I agree. When I had a cat he was always kept inside. Too dangerous to let your cats out around here, I have a couple of neighbours that would shoot any cat that wandered onto their property.

It doesn't have to always be indoors if the owners had a cat run.
And it doesn't matter if they have been neutered. Cats (both male and female) will still spray. So you may hope he never did that, but I am sure he WAS in your neighbours back yards making a nuisance of himself.

The council that we come under has a cat curfew inside by 8pm to 6am. From the 1st of Oct this yr. cats wont be allowed to wander anywhere except their own property and it is up to the owner to make sure their cats do not wander elsewhere.
We live in the hills, have 2 cats, they are in at night and go out in the morning, fortunately for us, they are of a breed that does not wander away, when outside, they wander down to the chooks and back and then for the rest of the day sleep in the sun if sunny, if not they are inside or sleeping on a chair on the front veranday.
I live in The Dandenong Ranges in Melbourne.
