I am so over all the cats roaming through our backyard.
Not only does it mean our pet rabbit can't be outside in his own backyard or that I have to watch out where I put my hands when I am gardening because there is cat c*ap every where or that we get woken up at night because of cat fights.
But today I have spent the afternoon washing down with bleach all the entrances to my house, the perimetre walls and garden pots because the stench of their spraying is unbearable. They are even spraying the cars in the driveway.
And whilst I know that every cat owner on here will say they are responsible cat owners or that their cat is always inside or that they have cat runs so their cats never leave their property, I have yet to meet a cat owner in Sydney that has any of the above.
If you can't keep a cat on YOUR property then you have no business owning a cat in the first place.

The only cats that I find lovable are Top Cat and Sylvester.
OP, have you thought about a shotgun ? That should do the trick.

Thats all good..sorry if i added confusion ..I just wanted to really let everyone that chose to read my post know my reasons for keeping my cat s indoors ..I think that most cats adapt in thier own time to general indoor living..Kittens most definatley are by far the easiest to amuse indoors from the start..they tend to just ease into things and curiosity does motivate all cats to explore all surroundings inside & out..If you were trying to introduce ( lets say)an adopted cat that was previously out door to indoor life then there might be small challenges until the cat adjusted ..Most cats always in good time realise ( as they are very smart) that creature comforts are great indoors and time out side does not become thier main priority. Some breeds are what we classify ( in the cat show world) as couch potatoes and laze about most of the day..Others are much more energetic and very entertaining..You are right about resposibility its huge when people do the right thing ..All pet ownership demands a great deal of effort on each owners part...You & me are both great animal lovers because we understand that responsibilty

One of my bengals is harness trained so she takes me for regular walks, lol,and that is the only way that I would ever willingly allow her outside. She is adept at jumping fences with remarkable speed and dexterity so I have to be careful that she doesn't manage to escape from the house. The other two bengals have shown no interest at all in the great outdoors but once I have the cat run constructed that will have access pretty much whenever they want. The burmese sometimes goes out into the backyard but she is too old/fat/stupid to jump fences.

I was just looking at images of some of the cat enclosures around and I came across this. OMG!

I used to walk my harnessed cat when we were moving from Canberra, a trip that went over 3 days with children, dog and cat.
