I know no one here are really ridgey didgey Muslims. But I'm just curious how women rationalize choosing Islam as a guide to life??? If you were in their shoes, how would you justify it?
WHat does Islam provide these women that other religion can't??? Islam is the fastest growing religion even in Western countries. THere must be something attractive about it for women.
I'm not talking about women who are indoctrinated as kids and brainwashed but women who have the option of choice later in life.
I just want to hear logical and rational reasons why YOU THINK these women choose to become the whole hog of burkas/hijabs wearing muslims??

However, I do feel that a westerner becoming a Muslim is really pushing the boundaries.
Bit extreme........maybe joining a health or book club would suffice. LOL.

Probably because they feel lonely and adrift want to belong to a group and, in this case, have others make life decisions for them.....some women have no problem surrendering their independence and the ability to their own decisions. Sort of surrendering your life to some sort of leader. It is no different from many other religious groups. Not all....just some.
They are just looking for something in their lives, and think this is the way to do it.
Maybe it is.......I really don't know.
There are those that must belong to a group/tribe to feel whole. There are those of us who do not need this.
I am not being judgemental......it is just different strokes for different folks.
That makes sense. THanks.

I'm more referring to the women who are not coerced or brainwashed but freely choose Islam. THere's plenty of them in UK. White western women, choosing to be covered and obey the rules of Islam. I'm just intereted in the attraction and the logic of it.
Re-read this post and insert the nunnery in place of Islam. Why do women chose to join a nunnery? Not that many do these days, but is it so different?

What harm does my belief in the miracle of the Eucharist do to you or anybody else?
Yet, you ridicule.
What harm does my belief in Jesus being the Son of God do to you or anybody else?
etc etc etc.....................

As men, I think it's a great religion to convert to. I can think of plenty of good reason for male to become a muslim. Can't really think of it for women.
What reasons bob? I would be very interested to know why you think it would be a "great religion" for men when you are basically saying that any woman who chooses to become a Muslim is illogical.

Seriously? Is it really so hard to believe there are women who convert to Islam because of God? That they actually believe in what is written in the Koran?
wow.......

Exactly...your beliefs do no-one any harm and no-one has the right to tell you that they are wrong.
I was raised a Catholic but choose not to follow this anymore, have not for many, many years...this is my choice and I certainly do not denigrate anyone who chooses differently.
btw bob...the word is Convent...not nunnery.

Nuns are different because they remain celibate, don't marry, have no children. I don't think you compare them with Muslim women, except for the fact they both wear head coverings and follow a religion. Muslim women can get high up jobs in business etc, nun's teach in Catholic schools, do nothing outside the church basically.

Bob never posted ''nunnery".
