when I married my OH he was 5 years younger than me. I thought that was a good idea seeing men don't live as long as women....now what do I have? A OH who has dementia and it is very likely I will out live him.

Baby boys are smaller, weaker and have more genetic problems, so even though slightly more than half of all babies born are boys, they sadly have a higher death rate.
If you look at insurance charts, you'll see spikes at certain ages when males have a high death rate. Babies...then at 10 yrs (when they begin exploring, climbing trees, taking risks), 18-25 (when they're hormonal ratbags)
Men are less likely to seek medical help, usually have more dangerous hobbies and occupations and are more willing to take risks.
So, by the time they're in their 60s their health can be seriously impacted from their Rambo attitudes.
Women live longer because they have fewer genetic probs and are more sensible.
similar to what i read on a google search too, except for the sensible bit

it's fairly obvious really, they haven't got another woman nagging at them 24/7
we couldn't call it post traumatic syndrome cos it's a constant till the day we kick the bucket

You don't have to live with someone you don't like. Leave. Seize the day. Get some independence.
