The reason the character of Tarzan does not have a beard is because the creator of the Tarzan character Edgar Rice Burroughs, first portrayed him as such and subsequent representations have sought to remain faithful to the original. Tarzan first appeared in a magazine publication in 1912.

If the truth be known, Tarzan is actually a flat chested muscular woman.
The name is in fact Tarzann
Tarzann was brought up by apes and so she learned the apeish behaviour normally attributed to males, and apes.
The sound she makes as she swings on vines from tree to tree is a dead givaway that she is a she.
it is a well known fact that most but not all females love the sound of their own voice, that is why they make a noise at any opportunity.
Not only was Tarzann a woman but she was a liberated woman hence no apparel worn on the top half of her torso and being flat chested there really was no meed for any.

Johnny Weissmuller might be a trifle surprised to hear that, Poddster.
