Why is Bureau of Met manipulating data re Cyclone Marcia ?
They said it was a Cat 5 cyclone, yet all the wind speeds, sustained and gusts show that it was only a Cat 3.
In addition, the pressure level never got down to a Cat 5.
And regardless of the better building codes compared to Darwin/Tracy in 1974, the damage was no where near a Cat 5.
For a start, the trees still had leaves on them. In all the Cat 5 cyclones in the last 30 years, no trees had leaves
left on them.
In addition, "Data for Middle Percy Island has disappeared from the BOM site, but Jennifer Marohasy kept a copy.
(I’m sure the BOM will be grateful!)..."
Have a read of this.
IN ADDITION
It seems some of the media outlets wewre dissapointed that the damage wasn't worse. That was the impression I got.
Almost like Disaster porn.
Any comments ?

I don't have a problem building them. Long term they are a good idea.
I and many others have a problem with the "deal" that was worked out where the Vic Gov't pays huge amounts of $$$ for nothing.
About $250 million per year (2014, $133 million in 2013) plus $383 million in other fees in 2014.
That's more than $630 million for producing nothing. On top of that, they got an income tax refund of $169.8 million.
And the contract lasts until 2039 ! That is what most people objected to in Victoria.
At $630 million a year, the Vic Gov't could have paid the WHOLE CAPITAL Cost of $5.7 billion in 9 years.
Do you think that is a good contract ?

How abut answering the question.
What are these missing years of data you have constantly accuse the BOM of removing?
What was that you said about images?

Bourke was one of them.
Their was another town in Vic that has had data changed or removed totally. I can't remember the name but
it might have been Rutherford. I think it is near Wangaratta. Will try and check later.

Interesting to listen to Vic... cheers.
They were reporting (again) on computer models..... not the recorded data as it was available....why is a good question.
It's great people are asking BOM the obvious questions......Residents have the right to factual information.

Yes. The Island off the coast helped with ther accurate recorded data, I just don't think they looked at it
I probably over emphasised the conspiracy aspect of Cyclone Marcia but it was interesting that I wasn't the only
one in Aus who queried it. I think they wanted to up it in intensity but they also coc ked up in terms of how far it went
when the data seemed to show otherwise.
Anyway, the good thing is that it was lower and the damage wasn't as bad as expected, although would be nice
if their was none at all.
BTW, I am not normally a conspiracy theorist Now, I must go, I have to photograph a 747 flying
over my house that is leaving Chemtrails

Seems strange to be whinging that we are nit in that severe a drought that we need our desalination plants. One could claim that it is wasted money or is it better to have built them now so that the costs are actually cheaper than when we will need them. Desalination plants are a bit like theNBN. better to spend the money now than have to do it later when it will cost more. Eventually we will all have fibre to the home but in the future when it is too late and cost billions more
We will never need these white elephants, the white elephants that are driving state govt' broke just to mothball them. How long have they been mothballed?
They are a testament of the insanity of Labor, the staggering waste and incompetence of every state Labor govt ably abetted by the failed Rudd/Gillard/Rudd total fail.
It beggars belief that the left just cannot or will not see the ruin they perpetrated on the Australian people, the mind boggling debt they left and the incalcitrance of the Labor party to adjust their diseased thinking to allow reforms to go through to alleviate this catastrophic mess.

huh? the weather is all Labors fault too lol
or are you saying inacurrate weather forecasts are all Labors fault?
the Bom did however predict 2 cyclones, they got that right didn't they??
