I just find it strange that a candidate would not want to talk to the electorate every chance he/she got.

A bit hard to talk to the elctorate unless you have something valid to say.

 

So unless they are talking at Liberal Functions (where the audience will clap and cheer anything) they find themselves in uncertain waters when having to talk to the general public who might ask 'tricky' questions.

If my preferred candidate did not want to speak to me or had anything to offer I would be reconsidering where my vote would go.
