If you choose to be with someone and then after many years you walk away a total wreck you don't want to make the same mistake again and the easist way to avoid such a massive mistake is to stay single and be happy with that decision.

My hairdresser (about 40, kids at primary and a couple of older independent ones) got divorced about 3 years ago. Not long after that she moved 40 mins away to live with her new partner (the LOVE of her life) in his house,. Recently I get my haircut and was told 'it didn't work out' with the last guy, then proceeds to tell me she is going out that night with her partner (new one). I don't think I will be able to keep up there.

are you saying they can't do that being in a relationship?
Yes, especially if the couple have children.

I don't like being single. I find it lonely.

I just find it easier than trying to live up to expectations and never achieving them, as they seem to constantly change.
